Pitchforks and Daggers is an immersive narrative game that blends political strategy with dramatic storytelling. It’s ideal for players who love making tough choices and seeing how their decisions shape the fate of an entire kingdom
Pitchforks and Daggers is a story-driven indie game that stands out for its political tension, branching narrative, and meaningful player choices. If you enjoy games where every decision matters, this one is definitely worth a look
Had a blast playing Pitchforks and Daggers. It's a short game but there are many different branches you can take during a new or save state play-through giving it replay value. One of the many endings that got me good was Verena poisoning my whole crew. Damn her! I thought I had her controlled off in another country. I really enjoying being a king and seeing how my choices in ruling had an effect on other parts of the story. During one of my replays, I fought in two battles and got the title "Bloody Henry" because I am a tyrant! Good times!
I will let them keep the money. It was only 5 bucks, and they deserve it because they did a good job. I have to echo other reviews and say that it was, however, too short. I was on the fence about this review, but unless they someday expand on it and add much more to the length of the game then replay value (which I have not, except when I died) isn't enough to really suggest this game. Good luck to the devs. I hope you folks make a sequel that is much longer and hopefully more involved.
Great game ! Great music ! Great atmosphere ! Great story ! Great characters ! I loved it !
A game that is similar to 'Yes, Your Grace' but without the resource management, and more to do with political intrigue and alliances. The game has a lot of replayability, but at a cost - when given a decision with regards to something, you have to go talk to your advisors at other end of castle, go through the entire dialogue, then come back and make your decision. I feel like the game would have better user experience if, after completing the game for the first time, you are allowed to skip texts/not have to talk to your advisors to make decisions. The game is around 30-45 mins long per playthrough, but there are a lot of different decisions to make and a lot of achievements to get, Overall, I found the game to be quite enjoyable, but the more playthroughs I do, the more annoyed I become with lack of skipping options. I think the game is adequately priced for what it is, if you like Game Of Thrones'y style of politics.
I had a lot of fun! It’s really a well made game. The only downside is that it’s quite short, a single run can last around 30 to 40 minutes.. but it makes up for it with excellent replayability! And considering it only costs $5, I’d say the price is more than fair for what you get. Story is nice, choices matters and the characters are really charming, and I say this as a fan of pixel models. If a sequel or a remake with a longer playtime ever comes out (and of course a higher price), I’d buy it instantly! :)
could be longer but great storytelling!
This is a lovely game where your choices really do matter. Overall, for those that want a closer view of a game of Kings Conquest, or maybe want some GoT level chaos, this is your game. Medeval king sim light extreme, its a great game!
I can rather recommend the game, although I can’t say I was impressed or excited. Pros: – I liked the graphics. – I liked the pacing; I didn’t have time to get bored. – I didn’t encounter a single bug. – The story itself is decent. Not memorable, but fine. – Of course, for a 40-minute playthrough, €4.5 may seem like a high price to some people, but I understand that a lot of work went into it, and I’m fine with that. Now the cons: – The developer worked on the project for 4years, judging by what was written on Reddit. I feel that in four years it would have been possible to do much more. I mean that this game and its mechanics have huge potential - commercial and purely creative. The game is in many ways similar to "Yes, Your Grace", and such games have a very receptive audience. – Essentially, the game has a very limited number of response options. I understand that there are probably 8–12 ending variants (including all combinations), but after the first playthrough there’s no particular desire to see the others. – In a game about a kingdom, you want to at least feel that you’re managing something. Here you just run around the castle and basically solve household matters, with rare exceptions. In fact, there are only two or three issues to decide. In short, developer, I hope you don’t give up on game dev. You clearly have a lot of talent, but focus more on the story, on varied mechanics, and on increasing the total playtime.
