There's so much to unpack here, just about everything you should NEVER do in game development if you want to pretend to be remotely ethical has been done, seriously. Abusing Early Access, NFT scamming, pushing NFT games onto a platform that expressley forbids it, abusing the Steam Marketplace, toxic cash shops and more. This truly is metastatic cancer in gaming form. Now, no scam is ever going to work unless there's some bait, and the bait here is the flimsy pretense of a third person mecha game designed for console peasants. Who probably thought this was the mutts nuts, but that's why we don't pay attention to what console peasants think. What do you do in the game? Nothing, it's dead. The "bait" for this scam was just a simple PvP/"PvE" space/mecha game, essentially a ripoff of Stike Suit Zero (seriously, are we surprised these NFT scammers are creatively bankrupt as well as ethically bankrupt???). The PvP aspect is dead as the cryptobros backing this aren't actually interested in gaming, just what bags they get left holding. There's just enough of a slim veneer of PvE gameplay to prove to backdoor investors that there's a game, but it's as simple as you can get, a very basic, unfinished tech demo with no real gameplay to speak of beyond "go here, shoot this thing, press a button here, here's your dopamine reward for "mission successful"". tl;dr there's no game here beyond what the cryptobros running this thought would be enough to get people buying NFTs. The NFTs themselves are on the Polygon blockchain, which you can get into by creating or linking a Coinbase or other wallet to their NFT store, which you'll need to do if you want to "win" (against the other players, of which there are none). Various mecha and avatars are available as NFTs in the game, and of course the more expensive ones will let you "win" more. The developers haven't touched this for 2 months, and it's deep in development hell. One of those cases where, if anyone actually cared, we'd be asking if the last update was the LAST update. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. Despite not being able to finish the game, the developers apparently had all the time in the world to build that fully functional cash shop, and financial transaction back-end system into the game, hook up the NFT blockchain, and create a bunch of "in-game currency" Steam Marketplace "NFTs in a different place". That shows the developers primary goal was just to set out to gouge cash from Steam gamers just like mobile devs do with mobile peasants, and anyone else they could fleece with their toxic blockchain game. So yeah, you've got the NFTs, you've got an in-game cash shop, and the developers are also abusing the Steam Community Marketplace with "NFT" items that give you in-game cash currency to buy "NFTs" without having to go hit the blockchain... of course the developers farmed up a bunch of their own Steam Marketplace items to sell, too... and they get a cut of the action for each sale that takes place. The grift and scamming simply doesn't end. We, as gamers, are just left shaking our heads and wondering why Valve refuses to enforce their own policy against harmful NFT scams like this. The existence of this NFT scam on Steam makes Steam look bad from a PR perspective. It's obviously harmful to gamers, it's a crypto scam. And it's harmful to those genuine developers out there, amateurs who make real genuine games and are trying to find their audience. There's nobody who isn't harmed by this existing at all. Finally, it's important to note that, despite this being such a low quality product, there's a number of positive reviews that all appeared immediately after the game launched, from suspiciously inactive Steam accounts that have reviewed almost no other games apart from this. Take the review score of this game with a grain of salt. So that's a lot of words from me explaining why this is cancer, and while I always say if you can put up with the negatives for any game review, go ahead and get the game, in this case, please just don't touch this.
