This is a really well-made game. The music is great, the little things like the ship tilt influencing shot angle, the slight graphical ship rotation when turning, and enemy turret rotation are all awesome. I would suggest just some things:

There was a typo in one of the story elements (I think "field" was missing the "d" or something).
It would be nice if the shield bars could have more effects when losing or gaining, like maybe flickering and then briefly flashing when a shield bar is recovered.
I didn't even realize until at least two battleships in that their turrets can be individually picked off. This is because their individual health bars are colored red and the enemy ships are already red from the start. An easy way that games like Fraxy and Warning Forever portrayed this was flashing of enemy turrets when they're struck.
There was a bit of glitching-out when an allied ship tried to clearly evade collision with an enemy but would sort of rubber-band to its previous position.
I do think that the collectibles magnet is too strong; it should only attract collectibles that are within a certain range of the ship, not literally every single element.
Louder sound effects when you're struck or when your shield regains a bar would be great.
Screen-shaking when a large enemy goes down would rock.
Doubling WASD to the arrow keys would be helpful, for those who don't use AutoHotkey.
After missions finish, the ship stays in the central top for an unusually long amount of time, to the point of me wondering if something was wrong.
Lastly, I thought it was particularly hilarious and sorta meta that
the French ship's invincibility was acknowledged directly in the story
. I look forward to trying the endless mode!

It's a lovely "shoot 'em up" game that deserves more eyes on it. At times it feels a little slow, but the story more or less makes up for it. It would've been interesting if the upgrades weren't capped in endless mode, but it's fine. A little tip for the Ace difficulty: when you reach the point when the ships are also at the bottom, just stay on top of the main boss. Your rockets will damage it over time (if you've bought them, of course).
It's a passable shoot-'em-up with a decent upgrade system. At times it feels really slow and takes a while to build itself up. Has a fair amount of slow dialogue to play through. -Free Game Amasser

Much better than expected game with a decent story. Could be a little less grinding in it, but alas. I also like that the achievements are reasonable and there are three difficulty levels, two of which I managed to complete. Give it a fly! LATER EDIT: I scraped by Ace Mode with 1 freaking HP. TIPS:
The Bomb Special does damage everything but does NOT clear the screen of lesser enemies AND deals damage to you. Every point counts in the last fight, so I'm on the fence about using it. Grind for coins in previous levels, buy every item, including the egg, hatch it and let it tank some in the first phase. In the second, stay above the Vs, since they shoot upwards less. Also, don't get boxed in. In the third, luck be with ye.
