This game is brutal. It is a tough as nails twin stick shooter well your build choices make a huge difference in your success. Each element is super interactive and has dramatic implications on your success. Like many space twin stick shooters it has a modular design to the creation of your ideal pathogen, you have internal and external slots what this game does which is a bit more special is that many of these components that you choose empower the connected elements around them. By combining certain infusers you can create insanely powerful combinations and apply them to weapons and skills which can potentially cause them to wildly grow in power. This is very satisfying when you pull it off successfully. There are also certain combinations which synergize incredibly well with certain pathogens. For instance, the nanobot has 1 health and gets a ton of armor as you play. There is a mutation which gives you 40% attack speed when below 2 health. This means you can keep it up with 100% uptime and you can take the ability multiple times. With some slower attacks, they become incredibly strong and fast with this combo. There are also certain modifiers you can get like cancerous which makes the organelle replicate and overwrite other similar organelles. If you have a favorite weapon that is cancerous, you can take random weapons and they will gradually mutate into the cancerous one. There are also mitochrondria, which have various conditions and then generate power for abilities or overpower infusers and abilities. By combining various elements you can make some insane builds. You can also freely bind your weapons and abilities to different buttons to have more flexibility. As you go through the game, you also get mutations which grant various bonuses and at certain intervals allow you to gain additional slots or change your slots into internal, external, overcharged, omni slots, or bonus damage slots. You also have a persistent progression mechanic where you can level up your pathogen with plasmids. Leveling them the first time with a pathogen cost extra and then raises the cap for all pathogens. With the higher cap, if you have another pathogen you want to level, its much cheaper to level up so once you reach various caps you can really try a lot of different things. My favorite is probably the co op setup. It plays a bit like twin cop or something, you each control half of a pathogen. You can build them out independently and each player controls them on their own. It is actually pretty overpowered in the slots its given but by splitting the workload, it can become very cumbersome as you have to synch up and work together when it comes to dodging in a bullet hell. Its very satisfying. The game also has a difficulty modifier thing once you beat it and it allows you to customize your gameplay bigtime for big rewards, this heavily reduces the grind. Overall, its a great roguelite, especially for its price. One of my favorite things in most games is when they have a local co op mode
Si en Isaac te sentías poderoso por oneshotear a los jefes... buena suerte en este juego, la vas a necesitar.
Solid game, clean controls and a very reasonable price.
Pathogenic is a roguelike twin-stick shooter that lets you customize a little bug as you seek to infect a careless researcher who dropped the test tube that you where living in at the lab. It reminds me a lot of Psycho Starship Rampage, if you enjoyed that game I am sure you will enjoy this one. What a great little game! Another developer proving once again that you don't need to have a AAA budget to make a game that will give you hours of enjoyment. Even not on sale I would recommend you to pick this up as it is fairly cheap even at full price. At the time of this review I've already logged in 24 hours of game play unlocking all of the different
What an interesting take on the bullet hell/heaven roguelike genre combo. It's very creative and the fantasy of filling a virus/bacteria/etc.'s shoes to fight the human body's immune system is there. There's plenty of fun to be had here but there are two major issues I just can't get past. And I'll keep it real simple. 1. The roguelike aspect of this game is absolutely decimated by what feels like extremely limited variety. Key word being "feels". I'm sure, over time, you can run into more build variety and combo builds. But, at least within the first 15 hours, it feels very "samey". Which doesn't help my second point. 2a. The enemies in this game are there to buy time for the environment to kill you. Sure, some enemies feel extremely "cheap" (like one that dashes across an entire "map" to strike you that's almost impossible to dodge), but most enemies offer a strategy or approach for you to take to defeat them. Most of the time, though, you'll be hitting bullet sponges while your mind wanders to what the rest of your day looks like or what you have to do tomorrow. 2b. That said, as you progress you'll just start dying constantly to the environment, unless you're a moron and like to run into enemies or projectiles that damage you. Additionally, and in reference to what I alluded to in point 1, you evolve to fight and avoid enemies, not the environment. So, there's no way of getting around environmental damage. Might come back to play some more and update my review. However, based on what I've played so far, this is a no from me.

I don't fully recommend it yet This game is so cool conceptually, and personally, I love playing it. But there are issues. The balancing is horrible. The first 2 areas are genuinely kindergarten levels of easy. And then you get to that third area? ♥♥♥♥ you, and your mama and her mama too. The difficulty just spikes, and you will not be ready for it. Additionally, the hitboxes are wack. I have personally died from a hit to my flagellum, which are impossible to control. They quite literally flow around randomly if you're not mid dash/sprint. Lastly, the lung bosses are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The 2 I've seen are a full screen coverage like 30% of the time. I had a build that shredded each room in the lung in under 10 seconds, then the boss brought me down from 11 max hp to 3. Entering heart, the arbitrary blood rivers ripped me straight into enemies or their attacks, as well as delivering a melee enemy from off screen to finish me before it was humanly possible to register its existence. I like this game a lot. The combos and the mechanics are innovative and fun. But fix it please.
