I want to make something very clear from the get go: I have not beaten this game. Probably not even close; I'm on act 3 and I'm just now getting my feet wet so to speak. That being said, I would recommend this game with some caveats. One of the most important caveat is its technical complexity. Or, at least compared to more popular CRPGs out there. That's not always a bad thing, mind you, but it is something one needs to consider before purchasing it. As long as you don't mind some reading, the explanations are pretty straightforward. Therein lies the issue: sometimes it can be to get a bit much. Not the reading, really, but the sheer amount of breadth to it all. There's no room for brevity when it comes to reading explanations.
If you want brevity and concise explanations, there are plenty of them on YouTube and places that give you walkthroughs, some of them are already here! So, just look up guides and you're sure to find something that works for you. However, please keep in mind that there is only so much reading and watching can do; most of this is hands on, learn as you go, kind of thing. Not bad, but not good for some people. That kind of leads me into the next issue: The Crusade Mode. I don't like it. Let me tell you why.
Later on, you run into enemies that love to stun-lock you. Like, a lot. You'll get maybe one or two moves, then they'll fly up to you and stun you again. Very frustrating. This, however, may be a me problem. More than likely I just need to get good. XD Although, I seem not to be alone in this sentiment, so do what you will with that information.
Next we'll talk about the writing: In my opinion it's fine. The characters are good, Owlcat did a good job in making me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate a certain character. Like, no joke, I out and out kick them as soon as I can. That's some good writing, at least in my opinion. I don't have much more to add to this.
The classes are the last thing I'm going to talk about. They're fun, but there are some sub-classes that are pretty useless, speaking subjectively. That's not to say they're not enjoyable, but they are unviable on higher difficulties and there really is no room for mistakes. It's best to just look up build guides so you won't have to go through the pain of having a class that's hard to play because of honest mistakes or mishaps.
