A very nice game! Just using my keyboard, but I disalbed my hotcue commands and it works perfectly. I could imagine using a controller would be even better. Would recommend this game to anyone.
Beatiful and challenging game with great music!

i think from the first time i looked at PTTS i was really intrigued. i instantly bought the pre-order way before the fact. the art style, the object of how you play the game, the '1 more try' type of play. and really, so far, have not been let down. its lovely, thats possibly the first word that i could easily say. its pure loveliness rolled into a challenging game that would be made even better once gamepad support is trully put in, not the current experimental. the character[s] are great. the roaming enemies are more annoying than really difficult. because they do fly around and shoot if they see you. but the flying of them is slightly random, apart from the more smaller ones who do fly towards you. the bosses are well balanced. that there is a form of 'ok, you are now on level 2, this will be more difficult', and so forth. and thats great. thats what makes it a great game. if it carries on in the same direction of updates that makes sense, as in it does not cut down on things and builds upon them, i would say it was great. whilst there is no 'game over' per-se at the moment. there is a 'you have completed the early access version' type ending, its still worth playing. absolutely. i am hoping that it really becomes big, as in 10 levels big [its currently 3/4], with even more to discover. thats my hope. so at least giving the developer a high five to edge that along ;) 6/6 *addition* so the developer has been away for some time. but they had posted up as to why that is. its a shame that the time is taken away. but personal matter are more important. my score stays the same, since i was given an explanation & think thats more than fair i do hope they get whatever it is done & in the clear. it would be lovely to see this expand further & be the product they want it to be
First off: BIRDS With that out of the way... In an age where graphic capabilites are seeming to reach their max, it's games like this that really stand out. I've always been one to appreciate stylized graphics over realistic, and this game looks great to me. Anyone can copy what exists in the real world, but it takes real imagination to create your own style. The game runs great on my desktop, but for some reason Steam won't launch it on my older laptop. Oh well, that thing will be fully decommissioned from gaming soon, I think. I thought I would have more to say, but it runs great, looks great, and I can't wait to see what it becomes when the final game is released. Suggestions: Custom control mapping. I currently use a 360 controller. Moving and shooting with both sticks is great. Shielding, though, is a little difficult when set to B. If it was possible to fully remap the controls to your liking, that would be awesome. That's all I can think of for now. My little one has pulled me away from the game, but I'm looking forward to getting more time with it. Other: It will not boot up on my old laptop. Steam shows signs of lauching it, the border of my profile picture turns green and shows me as playing the game for a short time, but the game never appears. It's highly likely my computer is just too old. Win7 64-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, 8GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeion HD 4670 - Scyphir
Lovely looking game! Great gameplay! Looking forward to future content!
bro took my money and ran away wtf
One of the most relaxing roguelikes I've played, which is nice because this genre usually doesn't inspire chill, meditative experiences. Instead of descending down into a dungeon, you ascend up to a tower in the clouds, all while enjoying stellar pixel art and a calming soundtrack, doing a lot of platforming and picking up the usual rouguelike items to modify your weapon. A la Binding of Isaac, there are also familiars to help you take down enemies and coins to spend at numerous hidden shops. The worst you can say about this game is that it's obviously still an Early Access title - there's a limited number of bosses (only 3 at the moment), and only five floors to work through. In the future, I'd like to see maybe a few more floor variations, different enemy types (right now we pretty much only have birds) a rotating roster of bosses to add unpredictability during runs, and perhaps a different playable character or two. Some proper story scenes might be nice too; at the moment the game kinda just starts and ends with the bare minimum of exposition from our playable character. I know plot isn't the main focus of game like this, but you could do a lot with the bare concept of a shipwrecked archer dude stuck on a magical floating island. All in all though, Path to the Sky has tremendous potential. I'm looking forward to checking back on this one over the course of a year to see how it evolves. If dek keeps adding to it, we've really got the makings of another Spelunky/Isaac here. EDIT: Played a bit of this again after the 0.20 update. It's still good, and there are new additions like an artic sorceress character named Farja as well as more items, enemies that can use bows and shields and a new system of endless progression versus the old six levels. I like it a little bit less at the moment, though. I think this has to do with the fact that many of the enemies are tankier and you've been given an auto-aim to compensate for this, but a lot of times the auto-aim doesn't work in the way I want it to. So some of the snappy responsiveness of before is gone, especially with Farja, who has one heckuva windup attack. The game's outdoor environments have also been shrunk down for the focus to be on individual rooms instead, which is an understandable change but feels restrictive. Also, I miss the old bosses. Anyway, this is still worth playing despite these nitpicks and I imagine there will be more changes once another update rolls through, so I'll take another look then.
Review changed 2-2-2018: I used to have a "recommended" review for this game, but I'm going to have to change it, because this game is dead. No updates since mid-2016, and it's now early 2018. Another Early Access game that just lays forgotten.. and this one could have been really great, too. Even the official Twitter has been dead since August 2016. Funny, the last thing they posted is a retweet of a meme poking fun at Sean Murray. Kind of ironic, considering that even though NMS sucked, at least it's still getting updates.. while this game is dead in the water, stuck in Early Access Hell, and the dev seems to have dropped off the face of the planet. Nothing new on the forum, or @pathtothesky or @dekdev on twitter.
Ive played for a bit right now and its a very awesome game. It feels like a real roguelike and the developer is still working on the game fulltime. I have a lot of faith in the future of this game already!
