Game's pretty good - story is engaging enough, presentation style was cool, and I found the characters' expressions to be above average, too. No major downsides here; here are the minor ones just for completion's sake (and, again, game is still good despite these): * none of the character lines are voiced, in any language * sometimes a cool mechanic is used, which was very neat - but then it only happened once or twice throughout the entire game **
changing "voice audio" to evade a specific curse
is only used exactly twice, and you see it coming a mile away the second time
(plus there's zero downside to leaving it at 0 after the first occurrence, since there are NO actual spoken lines in the game besides that specific curse anyway!)
**
actual choice to use or not use a curse on someone
only happens twice in the story ** having branching storylines where a choice in one of them affects the other is cool, but it's only seen twice (and one of these occurrences can be missed entirely) - if you want a game that has a lot of that, try 428 Shibuya Scramble So, no regrets playing this one.

I didn’t fall in love with the presented story as I wasn’t able to connect with its style of writing. From my perspective, it’s a) melodramatic, b) heavy with the lengthy scenes of exposition, either oriented on summarizing the legendary events from the past, or making many of the characters catch up with the storyline you’ve already got to see from different perspectives, c) sometimes fails to use its many characters, with one of the protagonists in particular usually being pushed to the sides, waiting for others to act as she continually expresses her bewilderment, and d) some of the heavy themes, like suicide and sexual abuse, are only touched on, without receiving what I would personally see as depth they deserve. Aside from my personal preferences and grievances, I feel like Paranormasight manages to very successfully play with teasing plot holes that end up making sense, earning fair justification that gets unwrapped slowly and satisfyingly. The story has layers to it, and while I’m not happy with some of them, there’s an unquestionable complexity to them, additionally enriched by the fact that the storyline is actually inspired by real folklore, and by the rather harsh reality of living in Sumida, Tokyo, giving the game a feeling of space, of being larger than it is. It’s not pleasant to imagine the toxic, dirty rivers, see the slums, or just notice how much litter there is on all the streets and alleys - but this makes the game feel real and honest, tied to reality. Also, it was fun to engage with the game’s puzzles - beneath the core of the Visual Novel, there’s definitely a real adventure game to be experienced - and to play around its meta elements. A cautious recommendation.
