I loved this game as a great way to just relax and lose myself in a calming world. And up until this recent update, I was able to do that quite well. But the entire time I've been playing there's been the same bugs present, and the only response you get from the devs is "We're investigating," and nothing gets fixed. But as a person who plays Bethesda games, I can live with that. What I can't live with is violating a promise that originally is what got me into the game. They promised that they'd never monetize gameplay functionality, but now if you want to max out your storage it'll take cost you nearly $100 real world money. I can no longer in good conscious recommend this game. TL;DR, bugs from when I first started still exist, monetization has become extremely predatory, and developer 'gifts' for events are extremely lackluster.

remember when they said they'd never lock gameplay mechanics behind a paywall,,,,, good old time, good old time
S6 made this game with a powerful stance against pay-for-convenience monetization models. As of August 26th, 2026, without any warning, s6 has quietly announced the monetization of core gameplay mechanics with their introduction of premium storage. If that didn't already disgust you, it currently costs $140 CAD and there's no other way to access that amount of storage (100,000 slots) without payment. With very little push back by the community, this opens the door for even more core features to be monetized. This is a predatory business model. That's not what I signed up for.
Greed has struck again. You can now spend money to influence gameplay.
I'm willing to let severely overpriced cosmetics slide, but creating a item/storage problem in your game and giving players a 'solution' in the form of paid storage upgrades is unethical. Especially for a game that said it would not monetise core gameplay mechanics. Especially for a game that becomes buggier with each update. This is a test of how much players are willing to put up with and how far they can push it. I enjoyed Palia for the time I played it, but I will not support this.
I've loved this game for quite a while now, but with the new update they added a paid storage increase which completely goes against what they originally stood for: monetization will be "cosmetic only." I really hope they change this as I and many other players are very disappointed about the change in direction. Until then I won't recommend this game seeing the path that it's going down. If they change this feature and go back to cosmetics being the only paid things in the game, then I'll change my review.
They have begun to lock quality of life features behind paywalls. ADD MORE STORAGE FOR F2P PLAYERS, MAKE IT OBTAINABLE!! it doesn't have to be HANDED to us, but make it possible to EARN, listen to your playerbase! fixing will change my review to recommend.
This game being in beta means nothing when the developers have no problem charging actual money for storage when they have shown they can make it unlimited. Its buggy, premium currency is purposely bundled awful so you spend more money, and they have no problem leading people on that this game is free when its no longer the case if you wish to truly enjoy it. You cant even buy riding licenses by themselves you have to buy the whole bundle for the mount even if you already have it. Dont bother playing.
Careful! This isn't a free game anymore. At least if you want to enjoy it !! There are many good, bug free alternative games like this which don't hide behind a ''Beta'' or ''Free'' description. Skip this one
This project started really well, years ago. Now, it's a shop. There is no game, only processes to keep you engaged. - Everything in the shop is bought using premium currency (used to trick your brain into disconnecting the purchase from its real-world monetary value). - Useless added maths when buying coins (ex: 850 coins = 715 coins + 135 bonus) - 9 different and separate premium passes (plus 1 that you can't pay to boost, yet), that would cost about $130 to unlock or $220 to buyout. They made those so fun, they want you to skip them. - Store promotions have predatory prices, making you end up having palia coins (that you paid for) stuck in limbo unless you pay more. - Now they added premium storage. They created a problem and want to charge for the solution. (https://palia.com/news/announcing-premium-storage) Those are just some example of what this shop has to offer. They said this would never happen. They did not keep their word. Here's what their business model said: (https://palia.com/news/palia-business-model) Their words: "With Palia, we’ll only be monetizing cosmetic content." Truth: Pets and storage are NOT cosmetics. Their words: "If you visit someone’s house, you’ll know they earned each piece of furniture and put in the time to make it shine." Truth: Furniture are available in the paid sections of premium passes. Their words: "We don’t want to monetize through tricks." Truth: Predatory premium currency and FOMO "loyalty club". I'm not against paid content. I bought over $100 worth of skins to support them. I'm leaving because they've crossed a point of no return. It will continue to go down. We've seen this over and over again.
