Genius game, love the exploration and crafting mechanics, it feels so good when upgrading the car, its awesome.
This game usually takes a long time for me to play. I like that sometimes, it's often OK here, but it does get wearisome. The story of this game is.. atmospheric, in broad strokes. I'd like to analyze it further, but it often feels hard to do, either from scarcity or difficulty of persistence. (I'm looking at you, Audio Tapes) The gameplay I like, though as I said earlier, my usually cautious and meticulous playstyle makes the gameplay loop feel quite long. I mean, I just spent an hour and a half doing an Expeditions run, and an hour an a half more earlier just doing inventory at the shop and swapping out from my Whispers loadout. I still have some "fun" new moments, like with finding out Abductors can take your current item, and roll it veeery far away. But I feel alot of my time is on foot, when I'd like more Opportunities to just drive, and use things like the Jump Jacks and the Anti-Grav Emitter for cool things like barely missing pine trees, instead of usually hitting pine trees. Also, back to the shop, not until past the Main game's ending and partway into either DLC did I run into not having enough room, but now here I am like in real life leaving piles of stuff either on the ground, lost in a Pneumatic Locker, or in various XL Roof Storages I forget. Oh, and mounting points for most things and lighting options, please, if that was the only thing that changed, it'd still be very helpful. Overall, still like the game, but I fell like I'm the one reaching and stretching for entertainment from it, rather than the other way around, if that makes any sense. Currently I'm maybe half of the way through Whispers DLC, and hopefully 3/4ths through the Expeditions DLC. Only failed a run twice, once in the first run you go to because the exit didn't spawn, and the later via electrocution during an Expedition. Maybe a better review is in order once those are for the most part finished...
Very polished, but the gameplay loop gets stale around 7-10 hours in. I felt like I was dragging my feet through the back half of the game, and the climactic moment just being "drive more!" was disappointing. I didn't actually get around to playing the DLC, though, so maybe that's cooler and better
Game's great. It's a very unique title that you'll either not get, or fall in love with. But if you get in the groove of things, I think it's great.
