The game is great. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth.
Something I’ve noticed about many of these “sandbox” style games is that they aren’t really a sandbox. Because there is very clearly a right way to play the game, Oxygen Not Included is more of a puzzle game than a sandbox. If you look at all of the content creators for the game on Youtube, they all play the same way. They don’t even bother using like 70% of the buildings in the game. They have there Self Powered Oxygen Machine down by cycle 20 and rush atmosuits shortly after. If there base gets too hot, they slap down a steam turbine to delete the heat. I’ve always been an off meta kind of person in every game I play. I have tried so many different ways to play Oxygen Not Included, but any alternative to the meta is terribly inefficient. Again, the game is unique and fun. I’d recommend it to anybody who likes complicated games, but don’t get mislead by the “sandbox” store tag. Oxygen Not Included is an open puzzle, not a sandbox.
great game, just wish dupes werent so retarded
It is very complex and takes a while to learn but it is super fun
Oxygen Not Included is a great game, but the amount of knowledge you develop from when you first start knowing absolutely NOTHING is actually crazy. 😂 There is so much detail in this game, and that’s honestly one of the things that makes it amazing. At the same time, it can definitely get overwhelming because there are SO many different things you can build, create, automate, and improve to make your colony better. You’ll start off just trying to figure out how to keep your duplicants alive, and before you know it you’re learning about oxygen production, plumbing, gases, temperatures, power systems, automation, resource management, and a million other things. There’s always something you can improve or completely redesign. The learning curve is definitely a lot, especially when you first start, but it’s also really satisfying looking back and realizing how much you’ve learned just from playing. There’s so much freedom and so many possibilities that even after you think you understand the game, you find another system or idea that makes you realize there’s still more to learn. Definitely recommend it if you like games where you can constantly build, experiment, problem-solve, and improve your world.
