I unironically love this game with all my heart and soul. Few pieces of art or entertainment have touched my life as deep, and have inspired me as much, as this. If only for a few hours, I lived a life where most of my days were filled with much more joy and peace.
Never needed that damn money

I have replayed this game so many times and even purchased some of the DLC! It is one of the best visual novels I've ever played and even makes me cry at the end every time. As the phases of the game go on, you genuinely feel like you are growing up with these characters. You start the game as a young child and progress to adulthood and it feels realistic. As you grow up with Cove and Elizabeth and their families, you witness the changes and growth these characters go through right until the end. Though the town this game takes place in is a fictional place, it begins to feel real: neighbors come and go, you and Cove volunteer to contribute to the community, and the time spent on the beach is just so beautiful. When the game ended with the characters growing up and eventually saying goodbye to their home, I cried. Letting go of childhood was hard enough in real life and I had to do it all over again in this game. I absolutely love the great lengths the game goes through to customize your character: from body details such as scars, birthmarks, height or if you've had top surgery or not, to pronouns and sexual orientation, all of these minute details are mentioned throughout the game. Not only that, but choices that you made when you were eight will get brought up when you are 18. A great level of care went into the main character of the game, makinng (added a typo to prove I'm a real person and not AI) them truly a self insert and adding to the immersion. This game proves that visual novels don't need a grandiose story to be a work of art. This game's story is simplistic: you are a kid growing up with your neighbor whom you have a crush on. You both explore your identities and your relationship with each other over the years. This game has no epic quests. No spaceships or dragons. It's not an otome. It's just a simplistic story with a simplistic concept and yet it's somehow one of the most beautiful games I've ever played.
You know the feeling when something absolutely incredible happens to you, and you just know there’s no possible way to tell anyone in a way that they would understand? That’s how this game makes me feel. Like how am I to explain the love I have for this green haired boy with wavy eyebrows? For his family? For the moms that made me feel like I could do anything? The sister that would annoy the hell out of me one second, then make me smile fondly the next? All the moments I shared with them? There are no words. If you finish this game without sobbing your eyes out, you’re either heartless, or you just weren’t paying attention. This game has a way of making you feel connected to every person in the story. Like you actually grew up beside them. Grew with them. It has a way of making you feel seen. Or at least, that’s how it made me feel. I relate to Cove in a way I don’t yet know how to express. He taught me more about myself than I thought possible. I’m so glad I took a chance on this game. I passed it by so many times, and now I’m laughing and shaking my head, wondering why. I legit can’t even remember the reasons. Now I can’t imagine a world where I never got to know these characters. I wish I could personally thank each and every person who worked on this game. It's an absolute masterpiece. Reading this over, I feel a bit dramatic over it all, but it’s how I truly feel. If you’re reading this thinking, “Should I try out this game?” Yes. Yes you should. But know that you’ll very likely cry. In both sadness and happiness. So fair warning. :) Also, the DLCs are absolutely worth it!!
I LOVE COVE HOLDEN!!!!! this game made me nostalgic for a life i could never have, the characters are so well developed and ive legit WEPT from this game several times. I detransitioned a few years ago (i live in the south and people arent the most accepting here) and my chosen name was "Jamie" since playing this game ive started social retransitioning again since hearing my name in such a positive context finally gave me confidence to be who i am. thank you sososo much for this game 100000000000/10 would reccomend!! (btw my hours r so low here cuz i used to play it on itchio before buying all the dlcs here)
I find myself thinking about this game a lot. I love the way it handles certain topics in the game. It's cozy and easy to go through when you want a low stim low effort activity and the character art style is so cute
I may have a problem...
Very fun. I'm ready to head back in for a second playthrough a few months after finishing my first. The story feels complete without the DLC and I love all of the characters and the progression between stages.
