an actual childhood friend troupe done right, changed my life.
this game is so incredibly wholesome and everything about it feels very thought out. i love the amount of choices this game has - you really feel like you're in control of your experience, even when it comes to the little stuff! the art is gorgeous and really adds to the game. the storyline is very immersive and truly just a wonderful and beautiful story. the way the gameplay is structured definitely makes the game even better and is super enjoyable. and, of course, i have to mention cove. cove is genuinely such a sweetheart. he's such a lovable character - and so are the others!! i wasn't sure about him at first, but you really do get to connect with him and understand him throughout the game. overall, this is just a beautiful and really sweet game. i keep replaying it because i just love how wholesome it is. if you want a romance game with no unnecessary drama, a good storyline, and lovable characters, this is it!! the DLCs are great too ❤️
I think this game is more than just a game, at least for me. It has a kind of therapeutic effect because of the feeling of comfort it gives you. On the one hand, the game is very sensitive to your feelings and frequently asks you if you're prepared for what's to come. On the other hand, it doesn't punish you — or barely punishes you — for making any mistakes, if you even manage to make them. And this is an incredibly nice feeling! It's genuinely the first visual novel for me where I had no intention of skipping any dialogue; on the contrary, I was all ears. Cove is just incredibly cute and romantic, and growing up and dating him was an amazing experience. He's really a sweet bun. And my two moms in this story are so sweet too! And my sister as well! I really love almost all the characters in this game because they are so nice! And if we talk specifically about the gay dating experience here, it is probably one of the best, if not the best, compared to any other game! (I'm telling you this secretly as a gay guy) p.s. I value Derek from the DLC much more than Cove and Baxter >:)
It took me a while to try this game, because I thought if the base game is free, this can't be that good. I was a fool. If you're a fan of otome games, you owe it to yourself to play this one. I'm filled with nostalgia for the childhood and teen years I had in real life and in this game. And FINE, maybe I'm a little bit in love with Cove Holden. The way your choices shape him and the world around you...I'm just floored by how intricate it is. Not perfect, of course, but incredibly ambitious and heartfelt. My only real critique is that near the end, the pacing can get kind of weird (especially the Baxter DLC epilogue). But even though that kind of thing usually bothers me, the game as a whole has too much of an elegant arc for me to dock points for it. It's still a 5 out of 5 game in my book.
It's over and I'm completely inconsolable.
oh cove holden...
This was a super cute game - total slice of life that was cozy and romantic! I love that it was LGBTQ+ friendly and it had lots of vaired options of dialogue choices and customization! I do really wish there was voice actors for the cast of characters as sometimes my eyes just glaze over the text but otherwise it was really great! Thank you for making it free to to play! I'm definitiely gonna look at the DLCs now! If you're looking for a cozy, sweet dating sim this is the one for you!
