Reviews
Fun game! Gameplay is comfortable and simple to learn. And the levels get excitingly difficult. Art style, animations and SFX are lovely, too. I wish the music was longer, it feels repetitive after a while. P.S: Flab is the goodest girl.
It grabbed me much more than I expected. The 2D style looks simple, but once you start playing you really lose track of time. The difficulty curve is very well balanced; as you progress, it gives you a satisfying sense of challenge without ever feeling unfair. Its roguelike structure also provides great motivation to keep replaying. The only thing I can mention is that it takes a little time to get used to at the beginning. But once you get the controls and the flow, the game really starts to click and becomes even more enjoyable. Overall, it’s a solid experience with a lot of potential. Definitely recommended.
Developer Blay Games delivers an imaginative spin on the arcade action genre with OROBOROS, while also serving as the game's publisher. Drawing inspiration from the ancient symbol of the serpent endlessly consuming its own tail, the game transforms this familiar myth into a fast-paced gameplay experience centered on movement, precision, and survival. Rather than relying on complicated mechanics or extensive tutorials, OROBOROS introduces an elegant concept that is immediately understandable yet surprisingly difficult to master. Its blend of mythology, arcade design, and modern action creates a distinctive identity that separates it from many contemporary indie releases. The core gameplay revolves around guiding a mythical serpent through increasingly dangerous arenas while carefully timing every movement. Players must grow by completing circular paths before eventually biting their own tail to complete each cycle, creating a unique objective that rewards both patience and quick thinking. Although the controls are intentionally minimal, every directional change carries meaningful consequences, forcing players to constantly evaluate positioning, enemy locations, and incoming hazards. This straightforward control scheme lowers the barrier to entry while maintaining a high skill ceiling, making each successful run feel satisfying and genuinely earned. One of the game's strongest features is its collection of playable Oroboros guardians, each equipped with their own distinctive abilities. Instead of offering simple cosmetic differences, every character introduces meaningful gameplay variations that encourage experimentation. Certain guardians specialize in overwhelming offense, others provide defensive advantages, and some manipulate the battlefield through time-altering or adaptive powers. These unique abilities significantly change the rhythm of combat, ensuring that unlocking additional characters remains rewarding throughout the adventure while adding substantial replay value. Enemy encounters steadily become more intense as players advance through the game's mysterious world. Arenas grow increasingly crowded with hostile creatures, environmental dangers, and complex projectile patterns that demand excellent spatial awareness. The expanding size of the serpent adds another strategic layer, as players must navigate increasingly confined spaces while avoiding collisions with both enemies and their own growing body. Boss battles further elevate the challenge by testing mastery of the movement system through larger, more elaborate encounters that require both precision and adaptability. Collectibles, hidden discoveries, and progression systems also provide additional motivation to revisit stages and improve performance. Visually, OROBOROS embraces a colorful and energetic presentation that complements its arcade roots. Vibrant effects, creative creature designs, and fluid animations help every encounter remain exciting without sacrificing gameplay clarity. Despite the growing chaos during later stages, the game generally maintains good visual readability, allowing players to track enemy attacks while executing carefully timed maneuvers. The mythological themes are blended with imaginative fantasy elements to create environments that feel mysterious and visually engaging, enhancing the game's atmosphere without distracting from its action-focused design. The overall experience benefits from its accessible structure and strong replayability. Controller support, achievement integration, multiple language options, and a progression system built around improving player skill all contribute to its long-term appeal. Rather than depending on excessive complexity, OROBOROS succeeds by refining a single innovative idea into a polished gameplay loop that remains entertaining across repeated sessions. Every defeat encourages another attempt, and every victory feels like the result of genuine improvement instead of random chance. OROBOROS is an excellent example of how a creative mechanic can carry an entire game when supported by thoughtful design and polished execution. Its myth-inspired premise, distinctive movement system, varied character abilities, and steadily escalating difficulty combine to create an experience that feels both fresh and rewarding. While players looking for a heavily narrative-driven adventure may find its story relatively light, those who enjoy skill-based arcade action, replayability, and precision gameplay will find plenty to appreciate. Blay Games has crafted a memorable indie title that stands out through originality and refined mechanics, making OROBOROS a worthwhile recommendation for fans of challenging action games. Rating: 8/10
fast-paced game with that classic “one more run” feeling. Easy to jump into, but still challenging enough to stay interesting. The upgrades are satisfying and the visuals look great in motion. Recommended if you’re into quick arcade-style action
