I give it two dead bugs

"Organosphere" is a very mediocre Unity asset flip, a mish-mash of Unity assets dumped in a blender then slathered over a first person shooter blueprint/template. Some effort went into making the various asset flipped weapons not work the way you expect them to... that's a comical revelation about the state of "indie" gaming right there. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $15 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 6 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
As a solo project, it has passed all expectations and I see only good things in the future of Organosphere. Spent hours on the lookout for secrets and locations and found myself lost in the remake of Johannesburg City. Good things coming in the Organosphere world. Keep up the great work!!!
Okay... First... controls need improvement - moving around, sprint, jump stops sprint, everything just feels off and not smooth. the Crosshair you can make it more visible please. How many freaking bullets does the bad guys take before they die?? ** more reviewing to come
Whats not to love about shooting massive bugs, and finding out that Earth is not what it seems to be. Without spoiling too much of the game, you are beamed down to earth after a virus wipes out most of Johannesburg. Finally, a catastrophic end-of-world event that doesn't seem to always target the US like in the movies. You immediately get attacked by giant bugs that seem to take inspiration from the Fallout series, being super sized versions of their smaller brothers and sisters - giant scorpions, wasps, and parktown prawns (African King Cricket for those of you not from South Africa). As the game progresses, you find out what the 'source' of this virus is, break the 4th wall for a brief moment, and then put a stop to things. Thats all I will say. Just make sure you remember to grab the ATV after one of the missions, as walking around the map can take a while, with it being 4 square km's and all... For those of you from South Africa, the 'local humor' will have you laughing quite a bit with the references, and puns (name changes so as to not get copyright claimed). Definitely worth the play time.
Really enjoyed the game! As a South African resident this hits home! Although it's quite short in duration it makes up with the small details and shooter elements. Super keen to see more cult hits from this game dev. Thank you for making lekker games <3
This game has the potential to be great, but it needs a lot of work. Its very refreshing seeing a game play out in South Africa,a lot of the buildings i recognise like for instance the Strydom Tower an icon of Johannesburg. Very surprised to hear Afrikaans being spoken on the phone, great plus there. I am sorry to say a big let down is the fact that we are chased around Jo'burg by gigantic scorpions and ants, this game could have been so much better if had been zombies or human enemies out to kill you,but now its more comical than scary. Please build on this game it has so much potential.....
Can you please add health packs after each fight you will usually encounter, like in the beginning of the game on the second quest for the sample down stairs, can you add health packs randomly? This would make this game more fun, but all-in-all, great game. Keep up the great work!
Not a bad local game! very over whelming at the start with all the Christmas beetles but you get use to it. There is massive potential considering there is only one dev maintaining this
