Serious Sam para pobres. 2/10
Orc Raid is a fairly simple and short game where you get to pick up and use a variety of weapons to fight against and invasion of orcs who threaten your kingdom. The somewhat chaotic and intense gameplay mainly involves a whole lot of intelligent kiting so that you don't accidentally trap yourself in between the trail of orcs and a barrier or a rock, or worse, run right into another group of orcs who's making a beeline for you. Lucky for you, most of the levels you play have some traps-in-barrels that you can trigger by simply hitting said barrels with an arrow or a spell, or even slashing it with your sword. For some reason, you can't trigger these traps using bombs though.
Watch me play!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMBcsySqHVg All of these is fun and all, but the best part about the game is the cool "supercharged" weapons you get when fighting the orcs during night time! If you watch my playthrough, you'll easily identify the weapons that I love the most... i.e. the poison halberd, the fire sword... basically any weapon that allows me to slay the orcs from a distance since swordfights can be tough to handle when you're getting swarmed from all sides. Note that aside from the frost sword, you can right click to kind of "cast a spell" using your melee weapon, which frankly speaking, is super cool :) So, here's the TL;DR!
Pros
+ Has a pretty fun and hectic gameplay. Lots of clever kiting required; lots of weapons to play with... overall, a great way to let off some steam. + Has two game modes, survival and a short campaign + Several varieties of enemies to keep things a bit interesting, but generally, the orcs are pretty much similar to each other. + Easy boss fights (might be a con if you're looking for a challenge)
Meh
~ Really liked the character/mob models but I find the environment a bit so-so. ~ A decent story for the campaign... just don't expect anything astounding. This is a game that focuses more on its gameplay.
Cons/Feedback
- Maybe add in a few more missions/challenges that can be separate from the campaign? The campaign is a tad bit short and survival mode can only be fun for so long. - Personally, I think this game might have a much longer lifespan if it supports co-op for the survival mode. It currently doesn't have a whole lot of replayability, unfortunately. - Even though I've had some fun (an hour or so), I don't think the game is worth $5. Definitely a game you'll want to get at a steep discount.
Overall
Orc Raid is the sort of game that will probably end up getting a Steam rating that's somewhere in the middle - it's not a particularly outstanding game nor is it particularly bad... it's just that... a little fun experience that you can enjoy for a brief hour or two and then move on. Plus, although the game can be pretty fun in a somewhat casual kind of way, it might be just too easy or too short for some people's liking. So, if you really like what you see, feel free to wishlist the game and grab it at a discount. It's not bad, exactly, but it's not great either. It is pretty much fine. Shoot waves of orcs who mostly walk in lock step toward you. To be fair, there are a lot of weapons and even a campaign. I wish I could give it a thumb sideways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LLisowt9nU
Pretty fun arena style FPS reminiscent of games like Serious Sam but with orcs instead. From what I've played so far the campaign actually has a pretty decent story as well which I didn't expect it to have. Game runs great on Ultra and never really saw the frame rate dip below 60 except once when there were a lot of enemies on screen. A few things I hope are added to the game though: rebindable controls, difficulty options, more graphics settings and controller support (tried to play it with one at first but only the left joystick worked). Overall I would recommend this game on sale or even at the full price of $5! :)
solid fun for an evening. basic, but effective gameplay and interesting weapons to learn
Check out my Steam Curator page, "Minorthreatt Gaming Reviews." I have the most organized and extensive genre lists on Steam! Be sure to "FOLLOW" for more of my recommendations: http://store.steampowered.com/curator/31339849-Minorthreatt-Gaming-Reviews/?appid=257170 The Short of it: Sort of TD-like, but in a 3D arena with a FPS perspective. There's a story-mode and an endless survival mode with a ranked community ladder. Simple, but effectively entertaining for the price point. Reminds me of: If you liked Blood and Bacon, there's a good chance you'll like Orc Raid. Recommendations for Developers: 1. There should be a way for players to speed up text so they can read it faster, and there should be an option to skip text and get right to the game as well. 2. I found switching weapons a bit cumbersome when in a panic. I thought allowing the mouse wheel to roll through your weapon inventory quickly would help a lot. 3. The look, colors, and graphical style is spot on for this game in my opinion, but the gameplay could use some more variety. Maybe some more different modes to play in - maybe a multiplayer arena - maybe a co-op mode. Visuals are on point, so a further focus on content/ways to play the game and have fun with it would improve it.
The game is pretty fun. My only concern is that while I do meet the minimum requirements, the game ran pretty slow to me. Ok I have a potato pc. But I do think that the minimum requirements of the game should be increased. I also played the game in my brother's hi-end pc and it ran like a charm and looks beautiful. So, I think that either the minimum requirements of the game should be increased or the low graphics setting of the main menu needs to lower the graphics even more. Besides that I think that the ice orcs achievement activated at the wrong time. Those are all the negatives I have found and hope this will be fixed because I want to play smoothly on my wooden potato powered pc that is in my room. Other than that, the game is entertaining, it plays like unreal tournament/doom where you are constantly on edge with enemies coming from every direction and the content seem fair for the price. Read on the forums that the devs plan to add more stuff so, that's welcome. Finally, I don't recommend this to you if you aren't a skilled first person player, this isn't a casual game, it is actually challenging to some degree.
......................WHAT THE UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH Well any way this game is a pretty glitchy game first off I will talk about the graphics the style to me looks like a cartoon which I think is pretty good for the game as well as the Cran berry that comes out of orks or you know Blood but yes orks just get ripped apart sometimes by A BOW AND ARROW so lets talk about weapons the weapons are pretty good for this game not gonna lie because the weapons you get a sword and also you get shield to protect yourself from enemies you get a bomb and like elementle staffs I guess Idk But yep ork raid is I guess kinda a good game for that gameplay but now its all about the glitches BOSSES sometimes dont spawn and enemies spawn above you I remember one level I spent around 15 minutes on looking for the orks because they were above me some of them did not spawn also I want to talk about the story its actually a cool concept but its pretty boring because theres build up for the end and the end boss is like GLITCHED I managed to beat the game and was not really happy about you know the glitch WHICH I WANT THERE TO BE THE SIDE I like this and hate it
Its a walmart version of "Orcs Must Die!"
Enjoyed the game, but, on one map mobs spawned suck in the air or in the ground, (the map with the tower) also I could not load final map at all. could have been broken by a windows 10 update, but seems more like game bugs.
