UPDATE: Same Day As My Original Review Below: I love to see indie developers responding so quickly to criticism of their first game on Steam.. Since I played this game this morning and complained about the motion blur that I couldn't turn off in the settings.. I did buy and play the original "Only Up"... From what little I've played of both, "Only Up" does seem like the superior game to this one. Both have now removed the default motion blur which is good... and both games are very heavily asset reliant for sure. This game however is not bad at all from what I can tell, and there are a LOT worse games trying to copy the "Only Up" formula on Steam and this seems to be one of the better ones for sure. I've watched my content creator friend English Teacher Plays on Youtube play a few of the games trying to leech off the success of "Only Up" and this game is way better than any of the ones I watched him play. So just based on my very limited play time (this is NOT my type of game).. if you're going to buy one game like "Only Up".. I'd buy the original "Only Up" first then this game here would be my 2nd recommendation. But that's just 2023. Let's be honest, this type of game probably really started with the infamous "Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy" way back in 2017. All of these games are likely much more fun to watch and laugh at someone else play than to play yourself. "Only One Way Up" is a very respectable take on "Only Up" regardless of the intent from the developer(s). It's quite possible they enjoyed that game and just wanted to make their own fun little climber game rather than they just wanted to leech off the success of "Only Up". Whatever the case might be, this is a much better game than I originally expected it to be, and the quick response by the dev(s) to remove the motion blur earns my respect as well! My review has changed from the motion blur negative to a positive review because I genuinely think it's worth your $6. ---------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW: Okay, so I gotta admit, this game seems about 10 times better than I expected going in. However, at this point, I have not yet experienced the obvious game source this game is trying to replicate in "Only Up". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIT2kp4GvwA My massive problem that unfortunately makes this game a "NOT Recommended" is the fact that the motion blur started making me feel nauseated within the first 20 minutes of playing it. Like many indie Unreal engine games, this developer just uses the default Unreal settings which clump motion blur into the "Post processing" setting and there is NO way to turn off motion blur completely. The lowest you can go is "low". And for me, that's a "No go!". Ugh. NOT RECOMMENDED simply because of nauseating motion blur, even with the Post Processing set to low. Some people might have no problems with this, but for me.. it's a massive show stopper. TO THE DEV.. Figure out how to turn off motion blur in this game.. or better yet, give us a separate motion blur setting to turn completely off ourselves and I will re-review this game. I'd actually love to play it and try to beat it, but I'm simply not going to vomit all over myself to try and do that. - Just sayin' TO THE DEV CONTINUED: I found this just by simply googling it and it looks like this might be a VERY simple fix. If you don't want to make a separate "motion blur" setting, that's okay. But FFS turn if OFF by default. Trust me when I say that NOBODY is going to come back asking you to add motion blur back into the game! FROM GOOGLE SEARCH: The Motion Blur setting can be found under Engine - Rendering\Default Settings in the Project Settings window. ...I hope this helps you Mr Dev.

Junge Junge Junge... Rotten Barrel ROCKT !
hardest only up clone ever.... for the entire 2nd half of the game, i pretty much have to do every jump with slo mo because every jump looks more impossible than the next. I do have to say the game started off looking like crap but as you get higher and higher, the game does get better. Final area is pretty well done as well.
This game sucks balls. Trolls suck. Not fun game. I will continue playing. Edit: It has been months. I have finally beaten this game. Anyone that says this game is bad is coping.
The game is good, but not great. It needs improving. Some pointers: 1. Add character customization, so that players will be able to change different parts of the player character's appearance, including hair, gender, voice, individual facial features, etc. 2. Add the option to create multiple different player characters to choose from. 3. Add a workshop for players and modders to upload custom playermodels, for players who want to use those. 4. Hire more voice actors, particularly ones with American and British accents, as to correspond with pointer #1 above. 5. Add more levitating objects so that midair pathways will be easier to cross. Apart from that, this is a good game to play, and it's certainly a cheaper alternative to "Only Up!" in that you want to play "Only Up!" but you only have six or seven dollars in your steam wallet and can only afford a cheaper option. Good stuff, but as mentioned above, it needs improving.
better than the other game
