Only If is a weird, rough little experiment that feels like it was held together with duct tape and good intentions. The game jumps between puzzles, walking sim sections, and random chase moments with zero warning. Half the time you’re confused, the other half you’re wondering if you broke something. The puzzles can be clever, but a lot of them feel like guessing games. Nothing is really explained, and the game just kind of throws you into whatever bizarre idea it has next. It’s messy, unpolished, and honestly pretty janky but it’s also strangely memorable because of that.
Not good. There no settings option in the main menu, the mouse sensitivity is way too high, Different objects in the scene flicker/ghost/artifact. those two issues alone were enough to make me call it a day within the first few scenes. And they could not seem to get a simple save/load correct. From what I can tell, you have to remember the name of the room your in, and type it in when selecting continue on the main menu. I am not sure, because I closed the game, wrote this review, and uninstalled the game.
Literally one of the most pointless games I've ever played
(SPOILERS) I don't know what the narrative of this game was trying to do.
Is there a story to this?
The story starts with a university student named Anthony going to a party and getting hungover. The next day, he wakes up in a room he doesn't recognize and starts to explore the house. Then he finds a radio.... Meet Vinny Graves (his last name is a bit of a mystery idk) he is the guide for how Anthony is gonna leave the "house" He directs you to a room and tells you to choose a pawn: White or Black. Either pawn you choose, you need to gather the four paintings in the room and burn them to obtain a key. Based on the pawn you choose, determines the ending of the game: White - Sacrifice Yourself Black - Save Yourself Starting with Black: Vinny and a companion capture you and attempt to kill you by throwing you in a lake and throwing dyanimite at you. You survive this attack and crawl to safety, until you get to a house and escape Vinny and his partner. Only to find that you need to choose the white pawn. Going with White: This one starts with more escape room puzzles, and one where you wander around in a park. This park level attempts to give the player a narrative that the game tricks you into thinking its about. One of the qoutes of the game is "You shape your reality. You are the obstacle." which comes from that level. One of the final levels is Vinny giving you a gun and navigating through a maze to a higher platform and shooting a green vase to escape. And this is where Vinny says that you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ your sister at the party. NOTHING GETS EXPLORED THAT WAS BROUGHT UP EARLIER, ITS JUST TO WASTE TIME!
Other stuff I didn't like
Dialogue: Typical 2014 conversations, it sounds like a COD lobby of edgy teenagers. The dialogue in this game is enough to make "This goes hard on mute" into a blessing. Vinny and Anthony both say ♥♥♥♥ for the sake of saying ♥♥♥♥ all because Vinny was verbally aggressive to Anthony first meeting him. It gets to the point where Vinny temporarily strips Anthony of his ability to talk. Narrative: There isn't one, the White pawn scenerio tries to show the player something that sounds meaningful but its just a facade. Its to ragebait the player. One of the park level's tasks is to find a blue flower surrounded by red flowers and asks you if the blue flower is being admired or cast aside; typing admired fills that part of the park with a foundation with a letter by Vinny that writes "Trash talking aren't we?", Choosing the cast aside option doesn't change much but instead of one letter from Vinny, its multiple. Its a nothingburger Characters: None of the Characters reflect on themselves or show any character development or vulnerability, its like a discord call of people thinking they're right because they're louder. Both Vinny and Anthony name call each other throughout the game, without trying to help one another. Verdict: This game could have been great, but didn't deliver. Its just a ragebait game.
The game is supposed to be confusing I guess? Then amazing job! Or maybe my consciousness just hasn't expanded enough to fully understand the deep meaning behind this game. Who knows? not me, apparently.
I'm gonna start this review off by saying if you want to play this, play it. If you're considering giving this a try, just give it a try. I cannot in good conscience recommend this game, but it's not an experience I'd care to actively deprive anyone of. Plus, it's free. No harm except to your psyche. Okay. This game is kind of nonsense. You can see I only played 2.5 hours, apparently, but it feels like I was in there for seven years. The puzzles are nonsensical. The parkour is very frustrating (thankfully also very short). The story is just. I have no idea. I could not begin to explain this game in a coherent way for all the money in the world and double the time to think. The voice acting is pretty whatever and the dialogue is not very good. I still barely know the characters' names or motivations. There are some highs, like the park (also has nonsense puzzles but it introduces a fun little mechanic i liked). And the parkour gets fun once you figure out how it works (i'm just not good at parkour so maybe it's fun the whole time for most people). I also kind of like the save system. It's sort of dumb but it's cute. Overall, if you want a short fun experience, play something else. It's short (apparently), but it isn't terribly fun.
I know it's free, but you just hear a white guy say the n word, sexually assault you, etc, while you kind of just trial and error your way through a trash game. I pretty much lasted until he started saying racist ♥♥♥♥. Wtf It wasn't even good till that point, even for it's release date, I had just started playing through my backlog and it was short, but it's not ever being played again. Don't play this, there are better free to play games, and even as a free game, isn't worth your time, attention, or the heat it produces on your computer as it plays/downloads.

Garbage. I got three achievements, after having to restart the game a couple times. Then, once I got to the 3rd level I believe (still early in the game), the game kept crashing and I had to restart from the beginning. I didn't see any way to save, and I hate having to start over from the beginning. After doing that 3 or 4 times, I finally had enough.
This game seems to represent the protagonist while they're high at a party. The antagonist is insufferable. The puzzles in this game are confusing and make 0 sense to the point where you may have to look up a guide.
