All of those guys who say game is hard don't realize they are used to games being easy. It's that way for some time, in the 90's and maybe way before, games used to be harder and people respected that. The world is too fast for you, I know, you need the pleasure as soon as possible, but trust me, try to reward yourself with solving the puzzles and not giving up because all of the other companies are giving you easy puzzles so you're used to it. It pains me greatly that this game is free and there are alot of trash game which have abnormal price. So yeah, give yourself some chances guys, so maybe in real life you will have more patience, it's all connected. Have a good day everyone <3

After about 20 minutes I got stuck, wandered around for 10, then gave up. Heard some stuff, wanted stuff to happen, got zilch. Played with a controller and that sucked, probably better with keyboard, I'd hope. For a free game its not so bad, but still wouldn't recommend it.

One Night is an okay RPG Maker, horror game and an okay Resident Evil clone, so then what is the story. A man wakes up in some sort of research facility; he has no idea how he got there or why he's here, more importantly he doesn't even know who he is or why the facility looks so disused and old. Those are the questions he will soon find out and more as he uncovers the mysteries of this strange place and the horrors that wait for him. Okay then the likes, the story is okay it does have a lot of science jargon in it, but you can pretty much still get the story, it also has a sort of lovecraftian feel to it witch was nice, it also has some nice twists and turns and doesn't really rely on too many horror cliches which was pretty good. The gameplay is okayish it's mostly you have to solve puzzles and pick up certain items to use on certain things all the while avoiding monsters. You can also find defensive items that can push back monsters or one defensive item that can actually kill them. The RPG maker graphics are pretty nice with some good detail here and there; it’s all standard for your RPG Maker. The levels in the game are good, it mostly takes place in this research facility and it did have a nice look to it and you could feel it was a research facility a long time ago. The enemies and bosses were good each one had a nice look to them, especially the two bosses. The characters are good and nicely written, I especially like Tiffany who after meeting her says she is coming with you because this place is dangerous, I really like that as it avoids the horror tropes of going alone or splitting up. The music was okay it was serviceable for this game. Now is the game scary, no not really, it doesn't even have any jump scares or any really disturbing visuals other than a few bloody corpses and some monster designs, but really it wasn't all that disturbing which too bad still a good game though. Okay then the dislikes, the puzzles for the game for the most part were pretty bad, basically a lot of them are number/math puzzles you have to figure out and I feel like the clues are a little too vague. There were some good puzzles like one puzzle which was a riddle which was pretty good. But there were just too many number puzzles, I feel like the game should have had a more diverse range of puzzles, like a couple could have been number puzzles and a few others could have been environmental, riddle puzzles or maybe even a sliding puzzle or two. I also wish that Tiffany had a bigger role in the game instead of just the story, she only plays Parts in the story and doesn't really do much in the game itself other than help you with one locked door, I would have liked her having a bigger part in the gameplay, like there are certain puzzles or areas you can't do or get too without her or you get separated and she has to save you, you know something that makes her more important to the gameplay as well as the story. Also the game doesn't have any achievements so once you beat the game there's no real incentive to play the game again. I also would have liked the game to be a bit more scary with maybe more disturbing enemy designs or gruesome visuals or a creepy foreboding atmosphere. Alright now that I've told you this, One Night is an okay RPG Maker, horror game and an okay Resident Evil clone, it has an okay story, good enemies and bosses and good characters which make this game okay. So do I recommend this game? I'd say maybe give a try since it's free and truth be told I would actually like to see a remake of this game, but it would have to be built from the ground up using the same graphics as the re-release of Mad Father and a bunch of other improvements.
Best 2D horror game I've ever played. Feeling of old Silent Hill and Resident Evil games. It could be easily for pay not for free.
Resident Evil in RPG maker. Survival horror with resource management. I haven't finished it, but everything I played worked. Great atmosphere.
Damn some people a being real rinky dinks and hating on this game. Anyways, I find this game really cool!! I love the old retro-style you've given it, it makes the game even more cool :D. There is one thing I do want to point out though. Could you guys make it a little easier on where to go and what the clues mean and stuff like that? Enough complaining, you've done an absolutely wonderful job on this game!! Can't wait to finish it and start the sequel!!
I will be honest I don't normally play these style of RPGs. But on a whim and the fantastic price of free I decided to give this a shot considering the reviews. I didn't complete this I will admit but I want to say that it did succeed on the "retro style". From the Resident Evil way of saving. The almost DeadSpace-like music.. the audio was actually really good for a free game. To the classic "Let's exaggerate and make the Military base a shady place for a shady project" vibe. It's honestly no spoiler but I was laughing really hard when I found the Maintenance note that said there's this GIANT GAPING HOLE IN THE FILE ROOM; no explanation why; but instead of fixing it we're going to hide it with a bookshelf! A round of applause for Dark Gaia and if you'll excuse me I'm going to try the other RPG's by the developer. Cheers!
