I've been gaming for over 30 years and this became one of my all-time favourite games. The writing is easily some of the best I've seen in a video game. Since I focus a lot on the writing of a game, its quality stood out immediately, though you have to finish the game to fully appreciate its genius. To avoid spoilers, I won't go into details, but the themes are handled so well, the characters are endearing and memorable, the music, the art style--everything about this game was wonderful to experience. This game reintroduced me to indie videogames, which I am grateful for. AAA and AA RPGs have felt so empty for the last 15 years or so; they've traded storytelling and integration with gameplay for graphics. I almost exclusively play indie titles now, and I have Omori to thank for that. It gave me back the joy I used to feel for games back when I was younger, games made with passion, love, creativity, emotion, and of course, great story telling. The retro style also lent itself to that possitive experience. OMORI will hold a special place in my heart forever.
