"Oh Darling! I Hate To Tell You This..." is a tired 2D retro pixel top down twin stick shooter. Yep, Steam really needed another one of those. Sure, there's literally thousands of them on Steam but we needed one more, right? Anyway in this one the pixel blob is supposed to be a little girl or something. Really, when developers can't do video game graphics, and we get left with all these pixel blobs, does it really matter? It's like asking why the aliens were invading Earth in Space Invaders. And what the heck are the blocks in Tetris anyway? Except here, there's even less reason to ask because, unlike those genre establishing games, this is a very weak, watered down copycat with no true value as a game. This features really godawful, lazy pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. The developer chose not to do the job of a game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 6 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

I like the concept, but the execution feels really poor. The roguelike content is very minimal and lacking, the story is very poorly developed, and it ends stupidly abruptly. I got my minutes of entertainment out of it, but I find there are much better games out there that you can find to spend your time on, instead of a game of this quality. Nonetheless, it is free, so you don't have much to lose.
It's nice. Good experience.
Good short game, sad story. ~ 30-40 min to get all achivments.
A 9-minute game that can be replayed for minor differences. The bullet hell aspects weren't that fun, and the abilities weren't well utilized. The story aspects were also poor. Less than half an hour to 100%.
I've been doing a search for free to play and this is a good one!
cute game if you like twin-stick shooters works good on steamdeck just gotta pick the layout
early vibes can be a sad game not a normal bullet game
meh
The game itself is awful, from the bad art (even for pixel), to the way the enemies appear, bad weapons/skills choices and the fact that you repeat the same dialogues even after finishing the game once and can't just skip all at once. But yeah the story and the idea itself happen too much in real life, without the demons/angels part of course, so do yourself a favor and don't drink alcohol or do any drugs, even when the world sucks and everything crumbles around you, I've been there, I know you can go through it without those things.
