It's another OT game. It's fantastic. Music fantastic. Story is great and not what you expect. Lots of fantastic throwbacks as well that made my heart sing. The only three downsides I've seen so far: * It runs Denuvo so you need to ensure it's installed on an SSD you don't care about. * There's a boss fight at level 31 that is so difficult you need to spend around 10 hours grinding gear and levels to 38 just so he won't two-shot the entire group. The only real "unbalanced" fight I wanted to do in Octopath Traveler 2 was the Galdera superboss fight, and that was easy enough to have a save file editor to just grant full stats instead of wasting my time on Cait nut drops. It's a bit disappointing that the balancing has gotten worse. * The game turns into debuff simulator after fifty hours. Having to spend two turns every battle dumping the boss' Phys Atk and Elem Atk is annoying. It's the weakest out of the three Octopath Travelers. I've done the standard and true endings; apparently the superboss requires cheesing *again* so this time I'm just not going to bother.

Fun old style 90s rpg. Pretty dark story but if you like games like old school final fantasy you will love it. Ignore play time , i play offline. i spent 40 plus hours on it .

Out of all the recent Square releases this and last year, this is the game that kept my attention for the longest and I got the most enjoyment out of. It isn't groundbreaking in anyway, but it is gameplay focused and paced rather despite the length of it's narrative. I very rarely felt completely bored, and the dialogue while lacking in character, was enough to keep me engaged throughout most of the story.
