I'm having an absolute blast with Oathbreakers so far. It seems there is a lot to do considering it is an early access title. Me and my son have barely scratched the surface after playing for about 3 hours today. The crossplay with the Quest 2 headset seems to be working fine and we haven't run into any issues yet. Props to the development team for creating such a wonderful game at such a low price!
Community is very supportive.

Oathbreakers has grabbed me like I always want a new MMORPG to. Exploring the secrets of even the most basic skills of the game makes everything I do feel like a big accomplishment. The combat system is so well made for VR and the magic has a skill curve that makes it so rewarding. Teaming up with veteran players has been a critical part of learning the zones and nuances of this game. Would love for this game to take off and grow.
I bought this game last week. I have played for the last 2 days. So happy I got this game. I would highly recommend this game if you like harder to play RPG type games. Plan on playing for many many hours. The game looks beautiful. If you are into grinding you will love this. I have put about 10 hours in the last 2 days and i am still just beginning to learn the most basic parts of this game. Huge learning curve(which for hardcore gamers is a great thing). I'm about to jump back in right now. There is a lot to do inside this fantastical world. Thank you Dev's. I can see myself playing 100's of hours.
I got to level 4 before I had to log out but I've made a decent amount of money and got a tier 2 sword. I honestly didn't expect it to be this challenging and fun.
hella addictive
WOW! This game is very cool reminds me of EQ in some ways. The voice chat works like a champ. Soon as I entered the game I overheard someone talking so I found them and they showed me around. Another player wasn't using their mic but physically showed me how to turn wood into planks to finish a quest. More people need to know about this! I am having a blast
Love the game, some negatives though: Although the inventory system is unique, it leaves no room for combat, so if a PKer comes with his weapons out and fully ready to attack, you can't do ♥♥♥♥ because you first have to get out your bag and then take out your weapon, if your PKer is dual wielding you can kiss your live goodbye because you're gonna be dead before you can even get your second weapon out. TLDR, PKers have an advantage over you due to the inventory system. Although the game nicely tackles PKing in the starting area by reducing damage, it doesn't really matter because you are unable to kill them and they can slowly chip your hp away and even just block you/stun you. Really, the only reason I'm playing is because of the community, it carries this game. A lot of nice people helping beginners out etc, which in turn makes those beginners help others. Would prob have refunded instantly if it wasn't for the community. Another thing is RP, why? Why is it fun to make people PAY ingame money to actually be able to swing things that are tier 3 or higher, it adds nothing except pain to the game. I understand adding mana etc, but its impossible to replenish unless you go into a full loot zone or buy it IN THE STARTING TOWN, so if you run out of RP, it's a nice 10 minutes walk to spawn :))) Complained a lot but overall, enjoying the game. It's clunky and can be improved, but I've played for 15 hours atm and still am only around 1/6 through the game (level wise). The leveling is also kind of weird, you pay SP and CP to level up, I mean, it's not a terrible system but doesn't make a lot of sense. You have a severe lack of SP after like lvl 10 too, since you need to upgrade your weapons, get spells AND level. Slowing down your progressing speed by a ♥♥♥♥ ton.
In the current state (pre-alpha? so it says in game), I can't recommend this game. I've put in 11 hours and found it to be way too frustrating of an experience to actually enjoy any part of the game. The big issue is the terrible inventory management. You start with two inventory slots. That's it. Which you then can fill with two bags/backpacks that start at three slots and then can be expanded to twelve slots total. That's it. That is the maximum amount of items you can carry. Twelve. There are no separate spots for weapons or tools. They all get combined into two backpacks. And combined they are. The backpacks work on a Last In First Out basis. Yep, the inventory is a queuing system. You need to take items out of your backpack, drop them on the ground until you get what you are looking for and then try to remember to put all that stuff back. I can't recall the countless times that I forgot or misplaced something as I had to dump the contents of my backip on the ground to get what I wanted. That in itself breaks the game. Ok, next is the lack of instructions or direction on how to play the game. You are initially tossed into a room where there is a not so helpful book on how to play which basically states that you are on your own. I couldn't at first figure out how to start the game. There is no in-game menu. None. You blindly stumble around until you come across a loadstone that gets you into the actual game. Oh, by the way, it tells you at the beginning that manual saving is important as the game does not have an auto-save feature. For the life of me, I could not get the manual save (which is hitting the Oculus home button twice) to work. The only way I could save the game is by going back to the starting tavern and gripping the loadstone. I have lost hours of progress due to the fact that I could not save the game properly. Game saving is broke in this game. Since, again, there is no in-game menu, it make this saving aspect frustrating. The social aspect of the game is also broken as the game requires you to hold down the menu button to talk. No, not click to turn it on, you need to actually hold the button down! It is near impossible to move and talk at the same time. My thumb was majorly hurting after a few minutes of trying to hold conversation in game. The community is hit or miss. When I first started I tried to ask for help. The one person I met stated he was an a--hole and would only help me a little. He turned me to stone, entagled me, block me with a wall and then told me to talk to the mushroom lady and then ran off. I was also poisoned and stabbed within the first 20 minutes of play time. And no, there is no way to turn of PvP. That is on all the time. Someone asked me who it was that I met. Oh yeah, another frustrating thing, there are no names in the game. Characters are identified by clothing and voice (well, if they decided to hole down PTT and actually say something). When you start out, you all look exactly the same without any way of telling who is who since, yep, there is no name above your head (or anywhere). Spell casting is another major pain. You create spells (which granted is cool) and assign to a combination of button presses. So you can assign a spell to the A and/or B buttons in any combination. You just have to remember what spell you put to what button combination. So A is a spell, AA is a spell, AB is a spell, BA is a spell, ABBBAAB is a spell, and so on. I guess this is a throw back to the Nintendo gaming? I'm sorry, this is a convoluted mess. The biggest plus of the game is the size of the world/areas. There are many places to go and discover. The starting town is very nicely laid out and has a good variety of shops. The graphics are a cross between a Rec Room RPG and Township Tale. The NPCs actually look like ones I've seen in Rec Room. Maybe once this game reaches Beta stage and/or final release there will be some sort of in-game menu. The inventory system needs major revamping. And the PTT issue should be easy to resolve. There are saving bugs and other issues. But I am hoping for a better game in the long run. I would refund it if I could and wait until that time but I'm way past the hours in game. So I will set it aside and hope for a better game in the future. The current user base is quite small. I only saw a maximum of 9 players on a one time but they are serious about the game (up to the point of a being little toxic about it).
