A world consumed by a dark forest - filled with strange creatures, strange cultures and even stranger people - and two wannabe intellectuals desperately trying to make sense of it all. This book was their best attempt.

i has bobs good book i enjoyed reading it and the illustrations are amazing
Крайне интересная задумка, но я не читал.
7/10 An experimental "book simulator", with a dystopian/fantasy story. Good: - it's an interesting fictional distopian / dark fantasy world inhabited by unusual creatures. Most of them are unique, unlike anything you could imagine - the unique idea to make a game that basically works like a PDF document, or rather a simulated 3D book where you have text on the pages - free So-so: - some editing and shortening could improve the text. E.g. there are paragraphs where the are arguments between the main storyteller and his scientific-minded friend Lily which I'd just take out almost entirely. Also, next to really interesting pieces there are often "filler-like" words and sentences which reduce the tempo of the story and made me lose focus. I'd recommend the dev to check out Steven King's "How to write books" which I myself found very useful when working as a translator/journalist. Bad: - it's not really comfortable to read it. For me, the font was a bit too small, even in the close-up view ("2" and "3" keys). Also pressing 2 and 3 every time you go to the next page is annoying. Then, the pages are unevenly lit and have a shade of gray as bg - that's because the app attempts to show a book in 3D but that reduces the contrast of the text and makes it harder to read. Most of the text actually goes on the right page which is the darker one. Overall, it's an interesting experiment but would work better as just a book / PDF file with illustrations. Oh and btw just the Steam stats of this game can be considered the meta-message of this app. Just 18 reviews in 2 years, but 100% positive. Which means, no one bothers to download it even for free. But the tiny number of people who do, like it at least enough to give an upvote. My first reaction when I opened the game was "cmon, do I have to read a book now?" I felt a wave of laziness and boredom. But in reality I'm an avid reader. It's just that I mostly read books on my phone, and in circumstances where I don't have anything more entertaining to do (like playing games). For example, I travel a lot for business, and I read books when waiting in airports or during multi-hour bus trips. It's kind of a mismatch of "content type" and the context in which it's "consumed"

[th]I'm a Steam curator, you can follow me[/th]

on the whole the book is good. it is worth reading. interesting to read if you know english..very light, correct book, speech literally flows, drawing the reader into the narrative web. great story interesting characters. I recommend READING!!!
I know it's literally a book on steam but DAMN that writting. I would say it reminded me to the story of Dark Souls specially at the beggining, I really don't know why or how I saw this in here, it's kinda just like when people taste some weird meat and everyone says it tastes like chicken, so yeah, this game tastes like chicken, and chicken is epic.
A+
Immerse in a book written and drawn by someone with a fantastic imagination :)
Игра 'Oakrot - it's literally a book' – это не просто игра, а интерактивная новелла, с любовью перенесенная в цифровой формат.
