NYT Games: Wordle & Crossword

Buggy This is embarrassing. The crossword puzzle now forgets letters that I’ve entered. It seems to be associated with using more than one device. Horrible app quality control.

Confusing!!!! I went to play the mini crossword last night, 30 minutes before midnight, so I could do yesterday’s puzzle before the new day. I am now seeing that I completed Friday’s puzzle instead of Thursday’s, despite it being 11:30 pm on Thursday when I did it. I really don’t understand why the puzzle would change days before the day has. This is very upsetting as looking forward to the daily mini is a huge highlight of my day, as I’ve been very sick this year. I even have the picture of the text I sent my mom at 11:30 pm of my results for the puzzle that ended up being for the next day. I don’t know that you’ll listen, but it is quite upsetting that the puzzle can change before the new day like that. Very confusing. At what point IS the cut-off???

Pay to Play I should not have to buy a subscription to this to play a crossword puzzle. That is utterly ridiculous. You have to even pay to KEEP playing the FREE game Spelling Bee. That is too much. I’m never going to pay to play word games and no one should have to.

Nagware I will forever rate any app as one star if it constantly begs me for a review. You’ve asked me for a review every day for months now, so here you go. Enjoy your one star rating for being annoying. My hope is that once I’ve posted this review the nagging will stop 🤞

Love it but I can only play cross word puzzles because my parents do not let me go on websites if you cloud add it in not making it go to the website yay

Won’t let me play anymore I have an older phone (iPhone8 with iOS 16) and when I open the app it says that I have to update but I can’t update because the app requires an iOS 18 or later! :(

A few suggestions Please allow us to reorder the games on the main page however we’d like. Also, streamline and standardize where the back button is. If you get deep into a game’s various layers it can be in 3 completely different places to go back to the main page

2026 updates, xwords, ipad 6.41.0 Down clues do not go grey or go back to black correctly *********************** Why do you keep making this worse? The dark black boxes around the current clue are terrible. The highlighting of the pertinent boxes when the theme is revealed has gone away. The completed down clues are not grayed out as they are completed. Please fix. And please don’t have the info open through the puzzle. older comments below, you don’t have to bother reading them ************************** For several versions now, the average for the given day is set to some few seconds each time a puzzle is finished. The application must be completely closed (flicked away) and reopened to reset properly.

Can’t play on NY subway What better place to play NYTimes games than on the NY subway? But you can’t, except for the crossword. Why not? Because the games require an internet connection to start. There is no internet on the subway. And more often than not, there is insufficient time during a stop while riding the train to make a connection that is good enough for the app via the internet available at stations. Crossword works.. but none of the other games. It is clearly not in the users interest to force us to connect to the internet to do a word search game - preventing me from playing the game in the only window of time I want to play it. Fix this already - it has been years.

The Crossword Archive… …has become a refuge for me. A trip down memory lane as I progress backward through the archive (I’ve made it back to 2009 so far). Forgotten pop culture references, quaint terms for emerging tech, events which were current at the time, now faded memories and people once familiar, now faintly recalled. The archive goes back in time almost as far as my birth year and I can only hope Father Time lets me reach that end.
