Crosswords crashing all the time Another update. Still using v 6.32.0. There is still something wrong with the crosswords. The app still crashes sometimes when solving a crossword. After you exit the crossword, some other puzzles (pips, strands) are balky to open. I must hold my finger on the puzzle for a long time, and try several times. After playing a crossword, Strands can play very slowly for a while. (The flying spots to the left are slower than usual). Update: latest update (version 6.32.0) is an improvement, but the crossword still causes crashes. They are much less often. Recently, this app has started crashing when playing the crosswords. ALL THE TIME! I force quit it, restarted the iPad, and removed and reinstalled. This started happening this week (last week of June 2026). It’s not just me, it’s all over Reddit. The other games in the app are fine. It’s only the crossword which crashes the app.
NYT Games Great way to exercise your mind during your commutes and especially while enjoying your morning coffee. Plenty of games to choose from allowing your mind to wander
Good but buggy I like NYT games but a couple of things could be improved. When I finish the mini crossword I cannot x out of the game. I have to play the spelling bee or close the app. Please address. Second, I’m not sure why Letterboxed isn’t a game with records and stats. It would be neat to have streaks and show how many turns it took to solve. Other than that I enjoy Wordle and Connections s as well.
Simply The Best Daily fun and challenge all in one
New version broken/fixed/broken again The crosswords are gone! I spent half an hour with the chat AI, tried uninstall, etc, nothing works. AI says it will escalate to an agent, but I wait….. When I reinstall, the crosswords are there with all games but when I log in, they are gone. Update, an hour later: After shutting the iPad down for the third time, the crosswords are back. I never did get an email or talk to an agent. One came on, asked me all the same questions, and then stopped answering. Update, after lunch. Came back on and the crosswords are gone again! This is ridiculous! Logged off, on…nada. Update next day: what seems to work is sign on, quit game, clear cache, go back to game and they’re there. Should not be this hard.
Not Everyone Lives in NYC Recent updates to Games have widened the game-experience gap between East Coasters and the rest of the country. You drop a new crossword hours before the end of the day and then don’t grant streak-extending status to a puzzle solved long before midnight on the day after its nominal date. Boo! Revert to the three-most-recently-dropped puzzles rule for “gold stars.”
One star for constant review prompts I’ve already reviewed this and I’m STILL getting prompts after every puzzle, go away!
Poor interface It seems to work OK, but the clues for the mini and midi are highlighted with in such a way to have black text on a dark blue background. That part of the app is basically unusable.
Updates are awful What have they done to the app? It crashes regularly, you can’t ‘x’ out a crossword—it forces you to quit the app, and the last update that I hoped would fix all of the introduced bugs deleted your average crossword times. I understand wanting to force people to play more crosswords, but you’ve made it unusable in the process.
great games, but buggy the app keeps asking for a rating - every daily, even if I’ve already rated it so i’m removing a star. stop bothering me!!!
