I am happy to give this game the thumbs up based on its premise and mechanincs. While this game looks like a city builder, it is more of a resource automation/management game where every building's placement is extremely important. This is by no means an easy game, and it will take you a while to get used to its mechanics. The Good: Great tutorials - it is highly encouraged to read carefully and understand what they are trying to teach you. Do not just put stuff in places and click next. If you are a fan of city management games, you will like this one - building placement, city specializations, city planning and thinking ahead are the key to success If you are a fan of resource automation games, you will like this one - buildings generate recourses and send them on their merry way to nearby collectors - be it storage, consumption, or transformation into other goods If you are a fan of puzzle games, you will like this one - the city building factor is very deceptive. I am finding this game to be more of a puzzle than anything else. It is highly encouraged to look at the map, puzzle it out, plan ahead and follow your initial plan. Building haphazardly will not really amount to much. Adding to all these elements is a tech tree - based on your goals, it is recommended to specialize accordingly The money-making part of the game looks easy - but this is also deceptive, as research is expensive, and there are timed goals to achieve. Chill and atmosperic, non-invasive sountdrack, perfect for this game. The Bad: The game is very difficult until you get used to its mechanics - this might put off some people who do not like to expend much brain power while playing a game All in all, it is a good buy - I can see a player doubling and tripling their money in game hours - even further, if you feel like 100%-ing it, as some of the goals are pretty hard to achieve. I don't see that stopping me, so if you feel the same way, grab it!
Fine little game, more of a puzzle-logistics type. Good tutorials. Frustrations come mostly from the nature of the game/genre.
I've only played about 10% of my first game, but I'm enjoying so far. It's certainly tough, where you can easily unbalance your whole economy and be flat on your ass if you aren't careful. My only concern is that the game seems "solvable", with ideal ratios and build orders possible, but at the moment it's a lot of fun figuring out each production pathway and resource needs.
I've only played it for a little bit so far but I am loving what I have seen so far. I like the way the way cities grow. I'll update this review when I have played a bit more.
I absolutely love this game. I've been itching for a nice management game. The art style is beautiful, logistics are simple and straight forward. It's very satisfying to grow out the colony and set up production chains to support larger cities. There's a good spread of achievements to have you work through the different biomes and explore the full production chain. This game has entered my rotation as a nice comfort game. Excellent value for the price. 10/10 Game. Personal wish list for new content: - Added extremely challenging goals for 50+ year mark - Maybe a random event system (toggleable) to add some unpredictability - Additional luxury goods that can be produced (furniture, gold/silverware, etc) for satisfying larger cities.
Absolutely love this game. Cannot fault it at all. The Romans, steampunk, and alternative history, all rolled up in one game? Sign me the f*** up! Discovering the game during the steam next fest was definitely a very good thing to have happened!! Full disclosure - I got this game for free and also about a year early (I was one of the closed beta playtesters).
Started playing this game on the demo stage last year. Fell in love with the progression of cities and the puzzle that the game offers. It is an extremely satisfying city builder with the unique roman/steampunk vibe. Then the developer just added to my enjoyment of this game. His passion, interest, and reception to feedback has been awesome to see. It's just a great little indie game with a quick arc to it that makes it very easy to pick up and establish a city. Then you start to realize the deeper aspects at play and this simple logistic system expands to allow you to build truly massive map filling city states.
All in all it’s a really good resource focused city management game. Big emphasis on building placement. Can be quite challenging, but still easy to learn with the tutorials. Easily one of my favourite games this year.
This game offers the player a mix of puzzle and civbuilding. Logistics rules this game so placement of your storage is key while production itself offers some help. I find it rather simple but in a intuitive to the point way, still providing a depth that makes you think, consider and plan ahead. The game design is a beutiful composition of well selected artwork for UI and across the board, thoroughly considered tools avaliable to the player, atmospheric music and silky smooth gameplaying experience. I had to really go looking for any negative and that is the slight eyebrow-raising experience when the automatic house-construction tries to steal the plot you intended to build on - but you can casually destroy until it selects a better spot. That detracts practically nothing from the great experience this game offers and I truelly hope it gains traction so this developer is encouraged to make the most of his clear and unqestionable talent in this field.
Very fun and challenging logistics game!
