Want some local multiplayer mayhem where you bomb friends? Then check out this Cheapness affordable gaming review of BOMBFEST and Nova Nukers [Episode 83] https://youtu.be/xhHvv38ZzV0 Quick text review of Nova Nukers only: -No story or campaign (Splitscreen multiplayer with an online capability) ... just play until everything is unlocked (Only took 2 hours) -Planets (The playing arenas) are the best unlock but are a slog to get (Play the previous planet 6 times to unlock the next) -I would guess the online is barren as the amount of Steam reviews are low (Quite an unknown game) -Simple, fun, mobile, essentially 3rd person shooter, bomb gameplay (It is chaotic though and the mode where you bomb and then capture someone is a bit of a grind as capturing takes a while, but you can decrease capture time in the options or can consider this vulnerability part of the game) Has a nice orbital bombardment revenge mechanic too... -It carves away nicely at the small, spherical, wrapping planet just as the other weapons do in a pleasant wormsian fashion (The planets are a big draw) plus the graphics in general are nice and cartoony -Has pleasant, playful, space gladiator music (Reminds me of Crash Bandicoot) Practical concerns: -OK value for money (R4.45 / $0.60 / £0.50 per hour for me) -Not the easiest download as it takes up 1.32 Gb on the hard drive -Not the easiest to run -4p Local versus multiplayer
Das Spiel ist echt ein gutes Spiel , doch leider kein support und komplett tot deswegen. Ist halt nur gut wenn man es im Splitscreen gemeinsam zuhause zockt.
tbh, I had hopes for the game, by all the ideas, they sounded good and all, until I later noticed that nobody plays the game anymore, there are no ways to play with bots, its just lost its shine, there goes a waste of money :(
Nova Nukers! is a compact but energetic multiplayer-focused action game that embraces chaos, speed, and accessibility above all else. Developed by Alchemist Interactive and published by Assemble Entertainment, it positions itself firmly in the party-game space, where the primary goal is to create loud, unpredictable moments that are best shared with friends. Rather than offering a sprawling feature set or narrative framework, the game focuses on delivering short, explosive matches that thrive on momentum, improvisation, and constant player interaction. From the first match, it’s clear that Nova Nukers! is designed to be immediately engaging, prioritizing fun and readability over depth or long-term progression. At its core, the game is built around arena-based combat on small, stylized planets that act as self-contained battlegrounds. Up to four players face off using an assortment of bombs, gadgets, and physics-driven mechanics that turn every encounter into a scramble for survival. Movement is quick and responsive, and the arenas are filled with hazards and terrain features that force players to stay alert at all times. Falling off a planet, misjudging a jump, or getting caught in an explosion can instantly change the flow of a match, making positioning and timing just as important as offensive play. This constant sense of instability gives the game its signature tension and keeps matches feeling lively even when the mechanics themselves are straightforward. The variety of game modes helps prevent the experience from becoming stale too quickly. Each mode slightly reshapes how players approach combat, whether by altering objectives, emphasizing certain items, or encouraging direct confrontations. While none of the modes are especially complex on their own, they provide enough variation to keep sessions feeling fresh, especially when played in rotation with a group. The inclusion of a small cast of characters and unlockable cosmetic elements adds a light sense of progression, though this is clearly secondary to the immediate thrill of each match rather than a major motivational driver. One of Nova Nukers!’ greatest strengths is how approachable it is. Controls are easy to grasp, allowing new players to jump in and start competing almost immediately without needing lengthy tutorials or practice. This makes it particularly well-suited for local multiplayer and casual gatherings, where players of different skill levels can enjoy themselves without feeling overwhelmed or left behind. While experienced players can still gain an edge through better movement and situational awareness, the game’s reliance on physics and randomness ensures that matches rarely feel one-sided for long. This balance between skill and chaos is what gives Nova Nukers! its party-game appeal. Visually, the game adopts a bright, cartoonish art style that complements its fast-paced gameplay. Planets are colorful and readable, explosions are exaggerated and satisfying, and character designs are simple enough to remain clear during hectic moments. The presentation may not be technically impressive, but it serves its purpose well by ensuring players can quickly understand what’s happening on screen even during the most frantic exchanges. Sound design reinforces this clarity, with impactful effects that make explosions, hits, and environmental interactions feel weighty without becoming overwhelming. Outside of multiplayer, the experience is more limited. AI-controlled bots allow for solo play or practice sessions, but they lack the unpredictability and personality that human opponents bring. Without a dedicated single-player campaign or deeper progression systems, the game’s longevity depends almost entirely on having others to play with. For players seeking a solo experience or long-term goals, Nova Nukers! may feel thin, but this limitation aligns with its clear intent as a social, session-based title rather than a full-fledged competitive or narrative game. Overall, Nova Nukers! succeeds by knowing exactly what it wants to be. It is a focused, high-energy multiplayer game that delivers fast, explosive fun in short bursts and shines brightest when played with friends. While it doesn’t offer deep mechanics or extensive content, its accessibility, chaotic physics, and playful presentation make it an enjoyable choice for anyone looking for a lighthearted competitive experience. For fans of party games and casual multiplayer brawlers, Nova Nukers! provides a lively and memorable dose of planetary mayhem. Rating: 7/10
best game everrrrr which unfortunately didn't get the attention it genuinely deserved
I almost never review anything. I wanted to show this game some love. I HAD A BLAST with 4-player local multi (split-screen). This is an AWESOME party game. The mystery cube pickups / items are very reminiscent of Mario Kart, but it isn't a racing game. There are 3 game modes to keep it interesting. I wish there were more, BUT for what it is... plenty interesting and great fun. I wasn't really expecting much from this. Far better than I expected! We will definitely be coming back to Nova Nukers. Frantic action-packed fun! Lot's of screaming! It needs to be on local multiplayer game curation lists. So sad to see as of the time of this writing the game only has 12 reviews. This is worthy!!
A party game based around stunning and catching each other on destructible miniature planets.

Up to 4 players, any number of whom can be bots, are dropped onto a tiny planet, on which they can freely move around. You can also dash around, stunning any players you pass through. Stunned players can than be caught, by being close to them for a set amount of time without being interrupted. Each player caught grants you a point and a round ends once only one player is left on the planet. You play any number of rounds, until one of you reaches a set number of points. The planet you’re on is fully destructible, over time revealing its core, which you’ll bounce off of once, with the second bounce killing you and subtracting one of your points. Nova Nukers! features a lot of items, awarded at random when collecting item boxes. These can be used to set traps, destroy the planet or stun other players in different ways. Additionally, dead players get to control a laser beam, positioning it and firing it every couple of seconds to further destroy the planet. There are different planets, often featuring some unique mechanics along with a unique theme. The game also features a few different characters, which differ mostly in appearance, but also offer minor stat differences. Some additional game modes are also available, to shake up the game’s basic premise a bit. Each match can also be configured, allowing you to change things like the point cap or the available weapons. Most items are locked when you first start the game, with more and more being unlocked as you play. You can also unlock a number of skins for each character, which change their colours.

Nova Nukers! is a neat concept executed well enough. It’s nothing too special, but overall decent. Note: The multiplayer is very much dead by now, meaning you should bring some friends along or be fine with playing against the decently competent bots.
