„Nothing & nowhere“ is a novel, that i was eyeing for a longer time. I wanted to read it, but I always ended up with something else. I am glad, that I finally was able to do it. This VN is something, that surprised me in many ways. The ambience, that this story create with music, visuals and plot is something special. It simply feels right and sucks you in into the world that Ebi created. The story is about a woman, who on her early morning beach walk encounter a runaway girl and invite her to her home to help her. The plot of the VN is wonderfully done. It underlines the characters and helps reader quickly build connection with them. They feel real and act like actual people would. The relation and dynamic between our heroines is really enjoyable and fun to witness. Even with quite short length of the story (45k words), we are able to get enough exposition to care about the characters and feel touched, by unravelling events. It also encourage the reader, to self reflect and take in the lesson, that the VN is trying to teach us. The art style is something, that I didn’t see yet from this author. It’s climatic and well fitted into the story. Characters are expressive and unique. The backgrounds are lovely and well done. Those with other parts of the novel create unique mood. Game also offer custom made soundtrack, that is professionally done. Its task is, to amplify the mood and events of the story and let me tell you, that it is doing so flawlessly. The tracks create the ambience, that this story deserves. Music of this, game really catch the spirit and charm, that other parts of this VN create. Rating this piece of art is hard, because it a piece that I struggle to describe with words, not to mention giving it just a simple number. It feels disrespectful to the author, however that is the format of a review, that I created and now need to live with. This novel is something, that you should experience yourself, because simple review won’t be able to catch its novelty. (At least I can’t do it). I believe that R:92/100 is fair grade.
Retconned the ending of Lynne, and I was constantly waiting for a nice turn to spice it up. That turn never occurs. It's just a vapid tale with a vapid ending. I hate to say it, but simply read Lynne and then skip this one entirely. It has far more going for it than this one does, in every measure.
There is room is this world for healing, wholesome content. Plus a stylistically radically different VN sequel (using different formal aspects of the medium) is a smart, interesting idea.
While Lynne was a story about a girl's decent into darkness, Nothing & Nowhere is a story about healing and second chances. A beautiful reminder of how things can become better, whether be it within days, weeks, or even years.
The ending is the cutest thing ever, I love it!
what a great sequel and conclusion to
Lynne
. My heart can finally be a little more at ease knowing she has a happy ending.
I love this visual novel so much i can't even remember where the couple typos I've seen were. The music is beautifully arranged, the sprites were so cute and meshed perfectly with the backgrounds. The story made a wonderful job at weaving both characters' lives and enthralled me to understand them better through the conversations—most of them one sided—they shared, the result could not be anything but a magnificent tapestry that works as both a standalone visual novel and a sequel. PS: Cora Danvers have been my loving wife for four years now, or as she surely would like to say: «for 1598 days, dear.»
A very different atmosphere from its prequel "Lynne" but a welcome one nonetheless.
WONDERFUL GAME
"Nothing & Nowhere" is a short kinetic novel about dealing with problems. That's obviously a really big summary of what actually happens in the story, but what's the point of spoilers in a review? The story itself is not as hard hitting as it's prequel (Lynne), but personally I enjoyed it much, much more. Cozy atmosphere and some slice of life peppered everywhere is definitely my jam - "Nothing & Nowhere" delivered on every front. Of course the biggest and most important part of the game was about bonding and sharing experiences between two people (not so happy experiences). And, oh boy. The writing was marvellous. Friendship (?) between Cora and Lynn was expertly crafted. Quality wise, it was far better experience than many other visuals novels that I played. I have no complaints about visuals or audio. Solid work. My only nitpick is about the epilogue -
why there was nothing about Cora? she was as important for the story as Lynn, so there should be something about her.
Overall, wonderful game. It's impossible to not recommend it. Check my Curator's page for more reviews: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/41437353-mnik%2527s-Experience/
