Check out our Steam curator , YouTube channel and Twitter!
Very challenging platformer with nice hand-drawn mysterious artwork. The gimmicks and obstacles including bosses are well-designed, though the slight in-game inertia makes it difficult to control. Hope it would be fixed.
Quick Score: 3/5 (Updated 4/5) Notes: The base clear of the game isn't that long or difficult. took about 60 minutes. The Impossible mode is highly frustrating, and not just because its difficult. It's because the falling/dying mechanic requires you to watch your dumbass character bounce around and get hit by 2 million saws for about 20-30 seconds every time before you can resume playing. The game sorely needs a quick respawn option. My only other real complaint is that the game feels a bit samey from start to finish. Wish the game introduced some aesthetic shifts and introduced more mechanics as you went further up. but the game kind of feels the same from start to finish for the most part. And aside from that, the game is decent. If a quick respawn was added to the game that would bump it up to a 4/5 for me, that alone is a major downside to the game currently though. It's funny the first couple times but gets old extremely fast. UPDATE: A quick respawn feature has been implemented which made impossible mode actually playable. Was a decent challenge getting through it, and while the current quick respawn is a bit buggy it serves its purpose well enough and is several magnitudes better than not having it at all.
It's just not fun, only frustration. It's so freaking annoying to have bad RNG and get knocked back down to almost the start/checkpoint from far up. Got to 190 something with the weird flying creatures, had a stop light, the guy popping out shooting fire, floating worm blobs that knock you around, and then a block respawned on top of me. I was RIGHT over the ground!! Quick respawn because I don't want to spend time falling and it put me back at like 130. There is literally no way I would have fallen so many levels and missed every single possible landing spot. It's annoying. I don't care about getting little bugs, a bug that attaches, the balloon guy from the black heart, AND stop lights all at the same time - I care about the constant lost progress. I've had less progress loss on such a consistent basis while playing Getting Over It. The game is just not fun, full stop. I don't even know how high the max height is, but then when I started looking to see if I was close after my latest reset I realized.. I just don't even care anymore. Yeah, I can't dislike this game much more than this. Get up to like 220, die, and I'm back to 196. What killed me? Stop light laser, balloon following me, guy on the side of the screen shooting homing missiles, and break away ground that I can't possibly stop on. It can't even be speed run when the game itself makes it, literally, impossible to blast through it. Add on the floating/sliding controls.. this game has one job, be a platformer. This game fails at that.
Help NoRoY rise to the top of the world. Jump on platforms and walls, dodge deadly traps and enemies, save by the fire and use the temporary checkpoint to teleport, just don't fall down! Gameplay: https://youtu.be/1T6zvZoBIa4 This is a hardcore platformer where your mistake can lead to the loss of all progress. If you're up for a challenge and love platforming with metroidvania elements, then you should try. + Cute main character. + Unusual visual style. + Various traps and funny enemies/bosses. + Responsive control. + Achievements. +/- High level of difficulty. You can fall and lose all progress! You can read other reviews and subscribe to our curators. Welcome! 5 minutes of game
Noroy is a hardcore 2d platformer with a foddian mode once you beat the normal one. You first start with a mode with permanent ish checkpoint and an ability to put temporary ones. Once you complete this mode, you unlock the new mode where there is no checkpoints and your will fall and respawn where you end up falling. The control are really well done imo and flow really well.
Cool game. Haven't played much, but the art looks cool, the character is pretty cute, and the game itself is challenging, but also fun.
If you like precision platformers and games like Jump King and Getting Over It where you can lose a lot of progress if you fall, you will love this game. If you're like me and you don't like those kinds of games, but yo DO like precision platformers, then I would recommend checking this game out, because it's a good challenge, here if you fall and you lose progress, it's not due to painful controls, it's your own fault, so it's a good way to put your skill to the test.
https://youtu.be/AblyunieZsk Hitting the major marks for a masocore platformer with well thought out levels, the odd slipperiness of the controls, especially while cresting ledges is distressingly imprecise.
Super punishing and brutal... I think the dev may be a sadist and anybody that enjoys this... It's HARD!! But I think it is a mixture of Super Meat Boy, Only Up!, pinball and Hollow Knight --- I RECOMMEND!! Currently 3 hours into it and can only get 60m and actually PROUD of myself for getting that far. Here is a little bit of gameplay: https://youtu.be/iGSrvTgy8Yg
Inspired by Celeste and Getting Over It, but lacks the charm of the former and the philosophical musings of the latter. It's just pure, unfiltered frustration.
