Not for the faint of heart, be prepared to die of something stupid that may or may not be your fault after hours of wasted effort. This roguelike makes you genuinely feel like a wizard, one mad with power. You truly start to understand why the wizard would do that thing that destroys the world. I imagine this game is infinitely more frustrating if you don't spoil yourself with outside knowledge. For me, reading and watching outside tips and the wiki enhanced the game. Truly a game for nerds who like numbers and computer crashing simulations.
Noita is a game tailored to the extraordinarily deranged. It will chew you up, spit you out, pour gasoline over your mutilated corpse, light a fire, strike you down with lightning bolts as if you pissed in Zeus' cheerio's and then throw you into the sun. It looked at the word "unforgiving" and decided there needed to be a better term for the true uninhibited definition of pain. Yet despite this, whenever you do inevitably die, you know it's your fault. You should have done this, you could have done that, you shouldn't have been so careless here. It's a game that wears the true label of "Rogue-Like" in the sense that, the only way you can get better at this game is through pure knowledge and skill. It's an immaculate experience unlike any other. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy suffering, learning, adapting and maybe even, eventually, succeeding. Also it's really fun crafting a wand that bluescreens your PC :D
must keep looking for best wand
a hole of hours, kinda like it
After 430+ deaths I still haven't beaten the final boss. I've learned that death is a frequent occurrence and it's something you have to get used to with this game. The beginner phase of this game is brutal, everything and everyone wants to kill you, it can at times be a miserable experience and I still Alt-F4 pretty often when I die, especially when I get a decent run going with good spells and good wands. Dying on a decent run can be infuriating. But on the other hand, this game can be really fun, with funny spell interactions and some tomfoolery that goes on. When you start understanding spell interactions you can make some insane wands, damage wise and some that probably aren't that good but they're funny and might crash your game. Besides that there's a lot of stuff to do, and plenty of areas to explore and secrets to uncover. The soundtrack is great too. Overall it's a good game but it is a big struggle in the beginning, expect to die often.
