Short little platformer. Beat all 8 levels in under 15 minutes. Still a lot of fun though!
Stealthy Pursuits and Lethal Grace: Unveiling the Shadows in NinjaThea Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) NinjaThea invites players to slip into the role of a stealthy ninja, navigating the shadows and honing their skills to become an adept and deadly warrior. With its focus on stealth mechanics, tense encounters, and the allure of mastering the art of ninjutsu, the game offers a journey that balances strategy and action. The visual design of NinjaThea immerses players in a stylized world that captures the essence of feudal Japan. The environments are detailed and atmospheric, creating a sense of immersion in a world where danger lurks around every corner. The character design of the ninja protagonist and their adversaries reflects the iconic image of stealthy warriors, adding to the game's authenticity. At its core, NinjaThea is a stealth-focused game that requires players to employ cunning and precision to navigate through levels. The game encourages players to utilize shadows, distractions, and well-timed movements to outwit enemies and achieve their objectives. The strategic approach to encounters adds depth to the gameplay, fostering a sense of satisfaction as you successfully execute a stealthy takedown. The game's emphasis on stealth and strategy might not appeal to players seeking fast-paced action or a more straightforward combat experience. NinjaThea rewards careful planning and patience, which might pose a challenge for those who prefer a more aggressive playstyle. While the stealth mechanics are engaging, the game's controls and movement might feel slightly clunky at times. This could lead to moments of frustration when trying to execute precise actions or maneuvers. In conclusion, NinjaThea offers a stealthy journey into the world of ninjutsu, encouraging players to embrace the art of silent movement and calculated strikes. Its atmospheric visuals, strategic gameplay, and tense encounters create a satisfying stealth experience that challenges players to master the skills of a ninja. However, the game's focus on stealth and its occasionally clunky controls might limit its appeal for players seeking a more dynamic or action-oriented gameplay experience. If you're intrigued by the world of stealth and enjoy the satisfaction of outsmarting adversaries from the shadows, NinjaThea might be the path for you to tread with patience and cunning.

this game is so cute!!
"NinjaThea" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This platformer is a very poor quality Unity kitbash... a bunch of assets (some possibly not created by the developer) arranged on the basic Unity 2D platformer game template. The developer only did about 8 levels and then rushed it onto Steam Direct. At least they're not trying to get people's money for this. This is a tired, outdated experience from a tired, outdated and obsolete game genre. Just a couple of platformers out of literally thousands have any appeal for gamers lately (Super Meat Boy, Hollow Knight etc). This "me too" Steam Direct platformer in a crowded genre offers nothing new. It's "free", but free doesn't mean good. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game is quite short, and can be run through in just 15 minutes. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library and download. This game fails on the visuals because of the use of incredibly lazy, ugly pixelcrap. The developer would probably argue this is a "deliberate artistic choice" but we all know it's because the developer was incapable of producing anything better. The game looks very poor compared to professionally developed games. Whether the developer lacked the skill or the budget for modern visuals is irrelevant, this looks bad because of that developer decision. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's a disservice to gamers when developers don't bother doing their jobs and creating contemporary, high quality visuals. Games like Undertale and Stardew Valley are rare exceptions that succeeded in spite of their awful graphics. Pixelcrap is never really okay, and there's no excuse for games that look this bad. I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. There's no evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips. Let's talk about pricing and the actual value this has for gamers. Even as a free game, this couldn't find an audience. With a peak of only 6 players, it's clear the Steam community took one look and walked away. They literally couldn't pay people to spend time playing this. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
It's cool the creator made this for his daughter, but it's also a totally generic and kind of pointless platformer with no replayability. The final achievement won't unlock.
A pretty decent platformer. In the ancient tradition of precision platformers, this one also follows the rule of "be difficult", but this one isn't so difficult as to make you throw your controller across the room. The game is short (8 levels), and depending on your skill level, you're looking at 15-30 minutes to 100%. The game doesn't have a ton of variety, there is only one type of enemy, and one item to collect, but the game does feed you new challenges fairly quickly with the gameplay. If you liked this one, I'd suggest checking out the sequel, it looks much better than this one, with more enemies and game mechanics. 30 minutes pretty well spent.
Music loops are too short. Level design involves a lot of waiting for platforms. Virtually no feedback from swinging your weapon and hitting something. Looks like a proof of concept. I did not enjoy the 3 levels I cleared.
