About
The Kingdom of Ririland is in peril once again!

Followers of the notorious Dr. Voo Doom have taken over a city, demanding his release from prison. But this is merely a diversion as they gather Power Crystals to execute their true plan: teleporting their master to freedom!
With the legendary hero Jack on vacation, the fate of Ririland now rests in the hands of Nico, the not-so-heroic lab assistant of Dr. Expo Zicion. Armed with the Statephone, one of the Doctor's eccentric inventions, Nico must rise to the challenge and SAVE the day.
The Statephone is no ordinary device. It allows Nico to SAVE different aspects of his state and LOAD them later to navigate obstacles, solve intricate puzzles, and defeat formidable enemies.

SAVE your position to return to it later, even if the path to it has been blocked!
SAVE your momentum while bouncing on a spring to execute a double jump later!
SAVE your inventory and LOAD it after using an item to double it, then SAVE it again for infinite items!
… and more!
The possibilities are endless, and the power is in your hands.

Got this because I really liked the devs’ previous game, Jack ’n’ Hat, and this one’s main mechanic seemed interesting. The devs took the idea of saving states from emulators and made it into the game’s gimmick. Each stage finds a fresh way to make that trick feel clever, so you get a steady stream of “I’m a genius” moments when a solution finally clicks. 2.5D environments with pixel art sprites pop with bright colours, and Saturday-morning-style cut-scenes add extra personality to simple, but likeable characters. Jack ‘n’ Hat had a great chiptune soundtrack and this one doesn’t disappoint. Instead of chiptune it leans into late-1990s PlayStation vibes, something I really appreciated as a 90s kid. Controls are pleasantly tight, so the character goes exactly where you intend without odd acceleration curves or slippery landings, making the tougher platforming sections feel fair. The one real drawback is the strict one-hit-and-you’re-out rule. I get why the developers chose it (multiple hit points would undercut the save-state gimmick), but there were a few frustrating cases where I figured out the puzzles only to die just before finishing the level and had to do it all again. Even so, at this wallet-friendly price the package more than justifies itself. If you like compact puzzle platformers that keep teaching you new tricks, this is definitely worth a playthrough.
Nico Saves The State surprised me in the best way possible. What looks like a charming retro platformer quickly reveals itself to be one of the smartest puzzle-platformers I've played in years. The game revolves around a simple but genius mechanic: saving and loading your "state" . I had a lot of fun playing it.Not to mention the fact that the music absolutely slaps!!! :)
