Ni no Kuni is one of those games that wraps around you like a warm blanket — the Studio Ghibli art style is genuinely stunning, and Joe Hisaishi's soundtrack never once got old across my 50+ hours with it. Drippy is an absolute highlight as a sidekick, and the world itself is so charming that I kept pushing forward even when the game frustrated me. And it will frustrate you: the combat is a clunky hybrid of real-time and turn-based that never quite commits to either, your AI companions burn through MP in seconds, and the familiar-catching grind can test your patience. That said, don't let the kid-friendly Ghibli aesthetic fool you — there's real heart in this story, and moments that genuinely hit hard. If you can snag it on sale for around $20 and have a controller handy, I'd absolutely recommend giving it a shot.
it's a beautiful game, but if you want to get all achievements, it's very tedious.
ughhhhhh it drags you along Beautiful cutscenes with engaging and beautiful animation that sucks you into the story. Then the animation budget runs out and you get animated 3D models, which are much less animated but at least have engaging dialogue (i opted for the japanese even though I don't speak it - the emotions are there man, it's not just someone reading lines). then the voice acting budget runs out and you get text boxes, and then when that's over it's an hour of clunky combat grinding and mindless fetch quests You're about to quit and never come back and then another gorgeously animated cutscene happens and you're like "oh wow ok I like this" and the cycle of dwindling entertainment repeats help I might play this again just to see the next scene save yourself
No ultrawide support in a remaster is just awful. I also wish the game showed more of an ending, it kind of just cuts off, which was pretty disappointing. Overall, a great game. More games need something like the Magic Master book, it’s such a cool idea!
Taming familiars is so unbearable. I already had some issues with this game but this mechanic completely put me off.
Easily one of the best games I've ever had the honour of playing. I'm really into monster taming and adventure games. The story, characters and world building are top tier and for me personally the battle mechanics and ways you can travel through the world are peak game design. I heard this was a devisive game for some people and cannot for the life of me understand why. 10/10
The game should not be Steam Deck Verified. The game shows PlayStation buttons with no way to fix that. Pressing (X) but oops the PS (X) not the Xbox (X)
Maravilhoso o jogo, porém peca em não ter uma tradução.
