Great arcade fun. A few rough edges, but nothing that stopped me enjoying it for two hours straight just now. Looks good, sounds good, and the gameplay feels well tuned. Controls feel precise. Impacts and so on are satisfying. Difficulty is pitched about right for me. Pretty simple/short, but enough variety in the enemies to stop it getting stale too quick. Certainly worth £3 if you like this sort of thing! Would get back on it now, but I have work tomorrow :-(
Do you like Geometry wars? Take that, mash it with Asteroids, make it good and dirt cheap. You pretty much need a reason NOT to pick this up.
Dramatic display, simple game.

A pure Twin Stick (or keyboard & mouse) shooter akin to the original Geometry Wars. If you are a bullet hell expert this game probably won't challenge you, but otherwise the lack of bombs, boost etc. and the simple controls makes this a good option for entry to mid skill levels, especially if you're new to twin stick shooters, have limited movement or just don't have the twitch skills of a teenager anymore. Apart from multipliers and points, the only pickups I've seen are weapon up, a one-hit shield (like Super Stardust) and the occasional 'temporary rapid stream'. The pickups spawn randomly at regular intervals, regardless of if you've shot anything, and enemies don't appear until you shoot the asteroids which may be exploited by playing 'pacifist' until powered up, which can be seen as good or bad depending on your skill and whether a pure high score attack appeals to you, i.e. the game is harder if you try to shoot everything straight away. My only real gripe is the pause menu doesn't actually pause the game, but just lets you quit or restart, and the menu controls with the left stick (no D-Pad) feels a bit loose like a steam/DS4 input mapper but in game it's fine. The music is very limited, but put on something from Mixcloud in the background and you can get in the zone with this game, if only it was in HDR for that authentic high contrast vector look.
Like Asteroids? Like Geometry Wars? Like the 80s and synthpop and a neverending barrage of bewildering colors? Like a fair game where you pretty much always know what you did wrong? Fairly simple enemies with predictable patterns - they build up one or a few at a time. Easy to take on individually, if you keep the screen clear. Awful in combination if you don't. Weapon upgrades start to feel satisfyingly powerful, but it can get easy to lose track of your ship. Eventually your eyes will cross as you try to keep track of your ship and where you're targeting. Overall, $4 is a steal for this game.
Just want to take a note here. If you're tired of the arcade shooter formula of "run in circles and shoot", this breaks it pretty well. It's actually a bad idea to run in circles here, you cant have a formulaic movement pattern in this. That alone makes this worth a purchase. I wouldn't call this game a steal, but I would say it is worth the price.
I am a 55 year old biker and trucker father, and probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my son many happy memories. Thank you
I bought this game a couple of years ago and it's a lot of fun, so much so that I purchased a copy for my bestie! The price recently dropped so it's even better value for money. BUY NOW!
