The good: Crisp, tight controls. Everything feels deliberate and intended. No movements or abilities feel out of place or delayed. The characters feel deliberately crafted to be different and effective, not just a variation of repeated move sets. Awesomely diverse roster. There's a blob who will defend you till the end of time. Top tier couch battling. The bad: Local play only -- but remote play together works like a dream. Sure you can run into the occasional lag spike if someone has connection issues, but this isn't SSBM. Multiplayer only -- not really a bad thing, but important to note for people potentially looking for a solo game. It's so good to play with a group though. The ugly: I don't have enough couch co-op friends to fill the 8 player roster D: Overall: Unless you only play games solo, you can't beat the replay value from this one. Too much value at the price for parties or random disagreement settling. Forget RPS, Mystic Strife it. Huge recc.
Excellent couch pvp game to play with friends! Brings back the good old days of Towerfall. Tight combat with very distinct classes that feel well-balanced and polished.
This game is an absolute blast and a total steal for its price. Think of it as the lovechild of TowerFall and Super Smash Bros Melee but with its unique twist. Playing with friends is where this game shines. It's the kind of game where you plan to play for an hour, and suddenly it's 2 AM. The game nails the class diversity and balance. There's a class for everyone, and none feels overpowered. It's super addictive, with matches being just the right length to keep you hooked. Bottom line: if you're into fast-paced, competitive games with a bunch of friends this game is a must-have. Good luck trying to put it down once you start!
Easy to get your money's worth with this and has good potential to spend a lot of hours playing with friends. Now to find some friends. Would love to see KBM support added later.
How do I fund mystic strife 2 with steam workshop and P2P multiplayer support?! Take my money now!
I have a group of old gamer friends, and we get together to play local multiplayer games around once or twice a month. We ALWAYS play at least a couple of rounds of Mystic Strife. It's a staple in our game list. Its mechanical simplicity makes it easy to understand, and the single-life-point mechanic keeps you on your toes at all times. I particularly love the fact that to win the match, you have to be ALIVE at the end of the round, or you won't win no matter how many points you have. Cheap, simple, and fun—perfect for a local multiplayer game night. PS: Wizard is OP (?
played it with friends and had a blast! super deep, competitive combat. think towerfall with different classes offering unique game play styles. i could play this for hours
It's an interesting couch co-op that's unfortunately really floaty and jank. I wish the the areas were smaller and the handicap system was toggleable. Overall; worth it for a $.99
Mystic Strife is an incredibly fun fighter akin to Towerfall/SSB. There is beauty in its simplicity. Barebones and skill based combat feels super rewarding. Deaths feel deserved and success feels good. Feels great and fluid with an 8bitdo Ultimate controller. I've only played with friends via steam, but cannot wait to get a game night going on the couch with some friends in the near future.
Really good PvP game to play with friends. Similar dynamic to Towerfall. The June patch was a welcome addition (specially for necro class). Only thing missing that would make the game even better is team mode. EDIT: It has team mode now! And it even has friendly fire as an option. Thanks jSpeak for listening and taking the time!!
