On the one hand, all cops are...bad, for either directly abusing the power given to them by the criminal justice system in order to reinforce their own personal (usually racist) biases regardless of actual justice, or for enabling those that do thanks to either "esprit de corps" or simple fear of becoming the next fall guy. On the other hand, this is cheap romance fiction instead of depressing reality, and there's something about a girl in a crime investigation story being the gritty, hard-drinking noir detective rather than just the distressed dame that I find incredibly attractive. The character dynamics were different than I would have expected, had I not read the "About This Game" blurb on the store page. The titular Furry Detective, Eva Gray, rather than just being quirky, is an outright-incompetent conspiracy theorist who only has her job because of her experienced investigator sister, yet is painfully aware of her flaws and wants to be better because said sister went missing years ago and, after the case was dismissed by her peers due to a lack of clear evidence, she's had to work on it on her own ever since. Meanwhile, the insert-name-here male protagonist is assigned as Eva's partner after graduating from a police academy in the unnamed capital of this unnamed setting, and while initially presented as the one of the duo capable of thinking logically and actually solving cases, he ends up getting himself and Eva in trouble due to his ambitions, and ends up inspired by Eva's ability to think outside the box and her determination to finish the investigation no matter what. It's an interesting dynamic that leads to them both helping each other's character development instead of them solely being romantically attracted to each other. It's far from a perfect story, though. There were a couple of typos; the two most memorable were "my blood was alreadt boiling", and "I don't mind if its youh who pays". Towards the end, the story becomes a tad contrived, with the protagonist even breaking the fourth wall while thinking about typical detective story structure and limited visual assets. There are only three "Adult Only Patch" scenes, the first two of which happen nearly back-to-back in the story. There are Steam Trading Cards, but only one dropped for me by the time I'd finished reading the roughly-two-hours story; I already had to leave it idling for an extra half-hour for the second, and I might need to wait even longer for the third. And the actual ending is a rather massive sequel hook, with Eva and the protagonist deciding to follow a lead to the capital city for the missing sister case now that the present mystery has been solved, and yet there hasn't been an actual sequel (nor announced plans for one) by the time of this review. There have been Dirty Fox Games stories that I still thought weren't worth buying despite frequent 90% off discounts, there have been Dirty Fox Games stories that I thought were average with a steep discount tipping the scales in its favour, and there have been Dirty Fox Games stories I can honestly recommend even without a steep discount. My Furry Detective fits in the second of these categories, with a story I mostly enjoyed, characters I really enjoyed, and artwork that...well, it would've been nice if there was more of it, but what there is was nice to look at. And so, my verdict is Recommending this. Case closed!

This game geniunly sucks. Friend gifted it to me and there isnt even any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gameplay its just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fox talking to you for ages

I dislike visual novels in general, but this seems below average.
