MultiVersus had something genuinely special going on, and watching it fall apart hurts more than I expected. The beta was peak, the roster was wild and fun, and 2v2 with friends felt like nothing else out there. Then the full launch rolled out slower, clunkier, and buried under a monetization system that felt designed to squeeze rather than reward. The worst part is knowing it didn't have to end this way. RIP to what could have been one of the greats.
this was so much fun. so sad they cancelled it :(

The player base declined, updates became inconsistent, and despite a relaunch, the game never regained enough momentum to sustain itself. So MultiVersus is no longer available on the Steam Store because Warner Bros. ended support for the game and delisted it after its final season.
Writing a review for the hell of it - It's rather unfortunate that this game shut down, honestly. The production values are solid as hell, combat easy to learn but hard to master, and the potential roster of characters they could have stuck into this thing is crazy. Literally every single WB-owned IP was viable. That's an insane amount of content! It's also the last thing Kevin Conroy did his iconic Batman voice in before his death, so there's that, too. If you have it in your library, you can still play it locally. All the characters are unlocked by default, and you can download a complete save file from this guide - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3491901629 to unlock all the cosmetic crap.
Another live-service bites the dust Another live-service bites the dust And another one gone, and another one gone Another live-service bites the dust, yeah Hey, I'm gonna save you cash! Another live-service in the Trash!
Nota Geral | Overall Rating
MultiVersus is the definition of wasted potential. The game has already died twice, was brought back with a relaunch full of promises, and still managed to die again, this time for good. What's left is ironic: a game abandoned by Warner Bros. itself remains alive thanks to the community, through OpenVersus, a fan-made launcher that revives online matches after the official server shutdown. It's a rare case of a game surviving despite the company that created it, not because of it.
Jogabilidade | Gameplay
The concept of a platform fighter with characters from Warner franchises is genuinely interesting, but mechanical execution was always the game's weak point. Character balance has been uneven since launch and was never truly fixed, with some fighters dominating the meta for months while others sit forgotten in character select. The combat system, despite having a solid base inspired by Smash, suffers from inconsistent hitboxes and a sense of input lag that hurts precision in decisive moments. Running the game now through OpenVersus solves the problem of finding a match, but it doesn't fix the structural issues that were always there.
Here's the paradox of the game: as a live service, MultiVersus had enough content to hook players for hundreds of hours, between unlockables, rifts, a battle pass, and a growing character roster. And thanks to OpenVersus, that longevity didn't end along with the official servers. The community remains active, the launcher allows for informal ranked matches, and the sheer volume of content already in the game guarantees hours of fun for anyone discovering this method now, even without new updates coming in.
Enredo | Story
There is no story. MultiVersus never intended to tell a cohesive narrative, and that's evident in how the Rifts mode treats story as a shallow excuse to justify yet another string of fights against bots. There's no character development, no central conflict, no reason to care about what's happening on screen beyond the next combo. For a game with access to a massive catalog of iconic universes and characters, it's a waste to have done absolutely nothing interesting with that material in narrative terms.
Visual
Visually the game is competent and maintains each franchise's identity with a good deal of fidelity. Characters are well modeled and attack animations respect the charisma of each IP, whether it's the cartoonish exaggeration of Tom and Jerry or the dark seriousness of Batman. The stages are well built, with clear references to their franchises of origin. It's not a technically impressive game, but it delivers well on what it sets out to do visually.
Audio
The soundtrack and sound effects do their job well, with themes that nod to each character's franchise of origin without sounding generic. Overall voice acting is solid, with most of the cast delivering competent performances that respect each character's essence. Nothing extraordinary, but nothing that hurts the experience either.
