MUD - FIM Motocross World Championship™

"MUD Motocross World Championship" ist ein Motorrad-Renn-Simulation. Motocross ist zwar eher ein Nieschensport, hat aber mit dem MX1 and dem MX2 Championships gleich zwei weltweite Serien in unterschiedlichen Klassen. MUD besitzt die Lizenz für beide und zeigt offizielle Fahrer, Maschinen und Strecken aus der Saison 2011. Natürlich sind mit Aprilia, Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, TM und Yamaha alle Hersteller mit an Bord. Und auch die 12 Strecken zum Beispiel in Australien, Großbritannien, Südafrika oder Brasilien sind an die Realität angelehnt. Allerdings sollte man keinen Simulator erwarten. Im Kern ist MUD vielmehr ein zugängliches Casual-Spiel mit recht vergebendem Gameplay. Das Handling ist in Ordnung. Die Bikes reagieren meist direkt, werden aber auch durch den matschigen Untergrund deutlich beeinflußt. Sprünge gibt es meist zahlreiche, während denen wir auch kleine Kunststücke machen können. Das Spiel hat mittlerweile etwa 10 Jahre auf dem Buckel und an einigen Stellen merkt man das auch. So ist die Grafik nicht für heutige Monitorgrößen ausgelegt. Hat man einen ausladenden Bildschirm sollte man am besten gleich im Fenstermodus spielen, ansonsten wirkt die Grafik schnell verwaschen. Überhaupt sind Grafik und Sound ganz nett, aber eher zweckmäßig als wirklich ausgereift. Auch im Erscheinungsjahr war MUD keine Grafikperle. Das Spiel hat ein paar gängige Spielmodi wie ein Schnelles Rennen oder eine Meisterschaft. Eine Karriere fehlt allerdings. Dafür gibt es einen etwas merkwürdigen Modus, in dem wir insgesamt vier comichafte Fahrer und neue Herausforderungen mit erfahrenem Geld freischalten können. Der Modus korrespondiert zwar mit dem Casual-Gedanken, wirkt aber doch merkwürdig und deplatziert. Die KI ist nicht immer auf der Höhe. Auf einigen Strecken neigt sie überproportional zu Stürzen. Die Strecken sind zwar an sich recht nett gemacht, werden aber auch recht schnell langweilig, da sie kaum wirkliche Herausforderungen bieten. Dem Casual-Gedanken entsprechend braucht man auf den meisten Strecken nicht einmal Testrunden, um sturzfrei eine recht passable Zeit zu erreichen. "MUD Motocross World Championship" war zu seiner Zeit ein nettes, unkompliziertes Rennspiel. Man merkt ihm aber an zu vielen Stellen das Alter an und heute gibt es zu viele bessere Titel. Insofern ist das Game eher noch für Nostalgiker interessant. I have played I believe plenty of mx vs atv games and a few others so I have experience with motocross games and this has to be one of the worst. Gameplay is plain bad, bikes handle really odd and don't feel real. Tricks don't look very cool either The graphics are actually pretty good though. The mud looks great, the environment looks realistic as well and a bunch of promotion signs like monster logos put around the track add a good dynamic to the races but the riders looks super stiff on the bikes. The bikes do sound good as well. There's also a bunch of different riders and bikes to choose from. I think the official total is 48 bikes and riders. There are 12 different race locations and three competitions. Overall I think this game could have been really good, but the really messy, sloppy, unrealistic handling of the bikes ruin this game. Had they made a patch to fix some of the handling issues, this game would be pretty good but they just downsized this further by robbing the multiplayer off this game and yet not disabled or removed the impossible multiplayer achievements tied to this game. And just to add on more for a negativity, don't expect multiplayer in a multiplayer racing game. Just like the other reviews, I am WARNING you:- The game requires Gamespy servers for online play. Server were permantly turned off. So, no multiplayer.

The store page says partial controller support for an XBox controller. The partial support is the ability to navigate menus and that's literally it. Not a single button actually does anything game play related. Who wants to play a racing game on a keyboard?

Играл до этого только в MXGP от тех же разработчиков и могу сказать, что в этой игре настоящие только имена гонщиков, названия трасс и тд. Но сами трассы выдуманные. Но от этого они хуже не стали. Игра - добротная аркада, проста в управлении и в неё просто приятно играть. Помимо обычного чемпионата есть ещё что-то типа карьеры, где мы разблокируем новые ивенты за очки, новые костюмы, прокачиваем персонаж. Ещё в этом режиме есть разные режимы игры, такие как обычные гонки, нокуат из круга, гонка по чекпоинтам, один на один, арена для трюков.

Bogus controller support. No-one plays racing games on a keyboard, and I'm not going to pretend 2013 was longer ago than it was.

If you want this game to run on Steam Deck and relive some mediocre PlayStation Vita memories, you'll first need to install GE-Proton 10-27. After that, search my username in the layouts and set it to your layout - it's not perfect, but it gets the job done and as of typing this, there's (expectedly) no other community layouts. Next, hop into the game. You'll find it's just as bearably ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as you remember, like the ditch weed you bought with your high school wage.
