Mr.Vegan is a game about a vegan bodybuilder flying on a chilli pepper in space... Oops spoiler... Not really, there are 3 locations: a City, a Desert, and Space. But this isn't all, whilst he's flying he only wears underpants for a... better experience... and better ventilation!

🚮 ❗ALERTA: SHOVELWARE❗

It really is better than dark souls, and probably definitely more difficult.
Best music ever in a video game!

mr.Vegan is a deliberately absurd indie action game that thrives on eccentric humor and unapologetic weirdness rather than complexity or refinement. Developed and published by Sulton, the game feels like a playful experiment that exists to surprise players with its premise as much as to entertain them with gameplay. From the outset, it makes clear that it does not take itself seriously, presenting a surreal world where a muscle-bound vegan protagonist rides a giant chili pepper through strange environments in pursuit of fruits and vegetables. This bizarre setup immediately establishes the tone and sets expectations for a lighthearted, unconventional experience. The gameplay itself is rooted in simple arcade principles. Each level tasks the player with navigating forward through side-scrolling stages while collecting specific items and avoiding hazards. Controls are straightforward, focusing on movement and timing rather than elaborate mechanics. While the basic loop is easy to grasp, later stages demand greater precision, requiring players to learn enemy patterns, environmental rhythms, and obstacle placement. Boss encounters punctuate the progression, offering brief shifts in pace that test reflexes and pattern recognition rather than strategic depth. One of the game’s defining traits is its presentation. The visuals are intentionally minimalist, almost crude in places, but this works in service of the game’s surreal identity. Environments shift between distinct themes such as urban landscapes, deserts, and outer space, providing visual variety even if the underlying mechanics remain consistent. Character design is equally tongue-in-cheek, leaning into exaggerated proportions and deliberately silly aesthetics that reinforce the game’s meme-like quality rather than aiming for polish or realism. Sound and music play a surprisingly important role in shaping the experience. The energetic hardbass soundtrack injects a constant sense of motion and absurdity, elevating what could otherwise feel like repetitive stages into something more memorable. The music often becomes the driving force behind the game’s rhythm, encouraging players to push forward despite repeated failures or long stretches of similar objectives. For many players, the soundtrack is one of the most distinctive aspects of the game and a major contributor to its cult appeal. Despite its charm, mr.Vegan is not without limitations. The simplicity that defines its design can also work against it, especially during longer sessions. Levels can feel drawn out, and the core objective of collecting items rarely evolves in meaningful ways. Players seeking variety in mechanics or deeper systems may find the experience shallow, as progression is more about endurance and repetition than discovery or growth. The game’s humor and novelty carry much of the weight, and once that initial surprise wears off, the loop may feel thin for some. That said, the game seems fully aware of its own scope. It does not attempt to masquerade as a deep action title or a narrative-driven experience. Instead, it embraces its role as a short, quirky diversion meant to be enjoyed in bursts. Steam achievements and completion goals add a small incentive for replay, particularly for players who enjoy mastering levels or squeezing every challenge out of a compact game. Overall, mr.Vegan stands as a clear example of how personality and confidence in a strange idea can define an indie title. It prioritizes humor, music, and absurd imagery over technical sophistication, resulting in a game that is more memorable than mechanically impressive. Players who enjoy offbeat indie projects, meme culture, or simple arcade challenges will likely find it amusing and oddly endearing, while those looking for depth or variety may find it too limited. In the end, mr.Vegan succeeds by fully committing to its weirdness and delivering exactly the kind of experience its premise promises. Rating: 6/10
