what *edit* Y'know, had you been reasonable and said "hey thanks for buying the game (and not refunding it) but I'm an indie developer and negative reviews effect my sales - would you mind providing some constructive criticism so I can work on improving my game" I would have changed it in a heartbeat and provided some insight - but instead you decided to rage and make yourself look like a complete ass over a one word review that was not "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on you" claimed it was a troll, and then you proceeded to call all steam users "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" and then randomly get racist? People will not support you as a dev if you act llike this. Unprofessional and if you look around at other games where devs respond like this - you will see people don't have a positive reaction to it. *edit 2* deleted all your nasty messages and still being sarcastic. Not how you be a dev. *edit 3/last edit* dev keeps changing his response so people reading this don't see how truly disturbed he is. Awful person who made an awful game
It is what it says on the tin. It's showing public domain films understandably. If you like the idea of going to a theatre with or without friends, this will provide that experience. Didn't really mess with the games so I can't say much about them currently. If a custom server ever becomes possible for users to stream their own movies it would add longevity to the game far beyond it's current longevity.
Not worth the money in my opinion, if it was free i'd have had more fun, would rather pick up poop in the real world then in this game😂
I was pumped for this at first. Awesome Idea. Unfortunately the dev is a complete scam artist. Removing threads from discussions, and banning ANYONE that dare raise any issues with the shady way they handle this game and its (dead) community. Not releasing any actual updates. No new movies. But the bugs keep getting worse somehow. I am hoping someone more dedicated and honest picks up this idea and does better by the player base. We always have tower unite in the meantime :D
This game I feel has a lot of potential, there are many things that could be done with something like this. However, the game seems to have been given up on and doesn't seem to really be going anywhere. Private lobbies don't work, a lot of mechanics feel like they've just been thrown together and some don't even work. There has been a teased YouTube lobby that I think would be amazing for hanging out with friends in though it is still being added after however long. The posters of the movies playing in each theater are hard to understand until you really go into the theater itself and finally connect the dots. Everything also seems rushed, from character creation to additional side things like quests and games. I think this game could really grow into something big, but for the time being, it doesn't seem to be pursuing that idea.
Absolute garbage you're better off playing the cinema gamemode on garry's mod or bigscreen on meta quest both are way better than this
Abandoned. The store page says it was released Jan 6, 2025 which is a complete lie. The last update was Dec 29, 2023, that added nothing. The last movie update was Dec 2, 2023. Comments get deleted off the discussion page almost immediately also. (edit) Server seems to be shut down now, so you can't even play anymore. Don't ever buy anything from this Dev. in the future.
First thing, I noticed was that the resolution is completely off, and changing it to windowed mode doesn't "fix" the issue either. Part of the left side of the screen is cut off in resolutions that should work perfectly fine on my laptop. The biggest resolution that allows me to see the entire screen is 1366x768. I didn't realize that this was an online only game, and joining the server was OK but I would get disconnected or the server would close and I'd be booted from the game. On the plus (??) side, if you join their server, you can pay $199.99/month for "exclusive content" on the server amongst other things (such as "dev work, new content, and acquiring rights to new movies"). Which if legit, okay, but at the same time, asking for $200 a month for an already paid game is really, really insane. Especially given the current state of the game. The game itself does seem like it has potential, though it'd do a lot better if there was an offline option. I do like that there are quests to complete and I loved the parody posters and whatnots. I'm not sure how well the funding for the servers are doing but it doesn't seem all that stable currently. I'm a bit confused by all the positive reviews, but it is what it is. Like I said, there IS potential, it's just not there at all. Even for an early access game (and one with a discord with an option to support the devs for $200/month). Overall, until it makes leaps in it's progress, I'm going to have to refund this. I just don't find it fun to be kicked off a server 4 times after less than 30 minutes of gameplay. I'd suggest passing on this as well, for now anyway. Edit: Oh I saw a cheaper support option for $39.99/month, so it's not AS bad as I originally thought; but my previous thoughts of having an option for $200 with an unstable server still stands.
Its a really good concept of a game, but it doesn't seem like its paid attention to by the devs. Fully feels like their attention is somewhere else. The award they even promote was given to them 3 years ago, maybe work on getting a new award? Again, I like the concept but there is still a lot wrong with the game that can be improved. Willing to change my review once I see more of a positive change.
1/10 Movie Quest is an abandoned game with no running servers making the project very cool but effectively unplayable created by a problematic developer. My takeaway: Movie Quest is such a fun and interesting idea that sadly made it to fruition and died before I got the chance to experience it. It looks like the thought behind it was a MMO movie theatre simulation where you can join others in theatres that played public domain movies. Seemed like such a great idea for long distance couples and friendships. It also looks like, from previous game announcements, it once had a semi-active community and had the intention of updating to add laser tag and arcade machines. It seems to have had some limited character customization, holiday events, and exploration. This isn’t the case anymore and I hope no one ends up buying this thinking they're getting to experience all of the above. The game is abandoned and shouldn't be on Steam. Upon loading up the game you’re directed to a settings scene but when you try to load up the International Server nothing happens. If you try to click on their linked Discord it’ll show up as disbanded and invalid. I think I’ve had this game sitting in my library for a while and it only popped up on my radar after seeing it says it was released this year in 2025. Unsure why they updated it to have been released this year but removed all store page information but that is the state of the game currently. Everyone should also be aware of the predatory practices the Devs have been displaying to the community. Multiple people have experienced their concerns and comments being deleted by the Dev. Current players were also seemingly not given notice of the game shutting down. Dev has attacked community members for speaking out. Doesn’t look like there’s any future plan to revive this game but it is continuing to be sold as unplayable. Pros

Super cool idea.
Cons

Unplayable
Abandoned
Problematic Dev
Some users reported having the option to pay the Dev $200/month subscription? What is going on?
Ghosted The Community
Ignores The Community
Continues To Be Sold On Steam Despite Current State-Of-The-Game
Dead Discord Server Still Linked
Dead Server Still Linked
Deleted All Store Page Information
Nightmare Scenario Game Experience

I never made it past the initial start up. :(
To see more reviews like this one come support me and follow this curating page!
