About
You were enjoying a peaceful camping night in a mountain shrouded in silence and darkness.

The warm glow of the campfire cast flickering shadows when, suddenly, your eyes caught sight of something unnatural.

The only thing I have at hand is an unreliable lamp. To reveal its identity, you step deep into the mountain.

This game is a walking simulator horror game where you explore a dark mountain.
A Quick Look at the Story
A walking simulator horror experience set on a quiet, eerie mountain at night. Armed with only a lamp, players navigate through darkness and isolation while uncovering an atmosphere heavily inspired by Japanese horror. It focuses on slow-building tension and mystery, aiming to unsettle through mood rather than jump scares.
In-Depth Review
The game starts off in a way that’s immediately disorienting. You’re dropped into the world without a clear sense of direction — quite literally, since there’s no visible crosshair to help you aim or interact with the environment. It’s difficult to know what you’re supposed to do, and that lack of guidance can make the opening feel aimless. As you progress, things become more structured — perhaps too structured. The game quickly shifts into a very linear experience, giving players little to no room for exploration. You're funneled directly along the intended path, which can make the gameplay feel restrictive and less immersive. There are also several technical hiccups that detract from the experience. Sound effects are sometimes delayed, which breaks immersion. In certain sections, the frame rate noticeably drops, making movement sluggish. On top of that, some parts of the game involve long, uneventful stretches of walking, which can feel tedious and add to the pacing issues. The story itself is difficult to grasp. While it hints at something deeper, it never really delivers — it feels unfinished and leaves more questions than answers. There’s a clear opportunity for lore and worldbuilding that the game doesn’t fully explore. Instead, you're left wondering what it all meant, without much to piece together. There’s also a "day version" of the game that lets you replay the same areas in daylight. It’s an interesting concept, but it comes across as a bit anticlimactic — you're essentially walking through the same content again, only now it's easier to spot the visual and design flaws. Despite its ambitions, this first entry doesn’t quite deliver on its potential. However, I do recommend checking out the sequel, which builds significantly on what this game attempted and offers a far better experience overall.
Fun, short game. I turned the volume to max on my headphones and got jump scared a few times. I think this game pulls off those weird nonsensical nightmares you get. Feels really random like a dream and I had much more fun playing it than I wouldve thought.
free little 10/20 min if you do both version walking sim game to pass the time
siz bida oyun yapmayın
Recommended if you get trapped in a dark room for 20 minutes with nothing but a PC with this installed.
Mountain's Memory just simply isn't a game nor a walking simulator, unless doing nothing and going nowhere has meaning. I feel the developer read way too much into his project that no player could ever know or understand because there is no insights here at all. I get it, some visual events but no reasons as to why and the ending is bewildering, leaving the player with nothing. I played both versions, night and day, and the day version makes it even more empty, meaningless and nonsensical.
