Nice game to real mechanic
As it stands I wouldn't recommend this game, even at the sale price of £3-4. If you are six, and like motorbikes, then perhaps. What problems does this game have? Well, put simply, its far too basic. We're spoilt in the modern age by very good graphics and game engines, but here we have what could be a little gem released far too differently to how I'd expect the game to perform. Car Mechanic Simulator didn't wow me either, but even that is better than this in terms of development. - The graphics are not great, but this isn't a game that needs to be 4K graphically. - The camera movement engine is far too basic, but was easy to master. - The mechanic tasks are unrealistic (of more below). - Lighting is far too dark (of more below). - Only one kind of motorbike (and its a cruiser, boo). Mechanical tasks: The lighting issue and this tie into one, and since the lighting issue is smaller I'll explain that first: put simply the lighting is poor and therefore its hard to find the screws you need to loosen in order to remove the part you need. For example upon loading the game for the first time I was tasked with removing a mirror -- often a simple job with a spanner -- but got confused thinking it was moulded to the handlebar only to realise, once I'd removed all the grips etc, that it was just mounted via bracket with a screw on the backside of the handlebar that I couldn't see -- both because it was too small and because of the lighting. In terms of mechanical tasks I had to remove the brake disc with the wheel in place to remove the wheel, and also remove the wheel before I could remove the mud-guard? If people were using this to actually learn motorbike mechanics it would be f****** scary to think what they'd then go and do to a real bike. For those of you who aren't aware no you don't remove the brake disc with the wheel in place, and there's a million other things that fall well outside of this games scope when it comes to installing one. On another note the game, from the off, has a "install/remove" option (for both) that enable you to see every part that isn't installed (if you were fixing a bike and got lost, for example) and every part that needs removing (if you need to know where to look, for example). The problem with this, however, is that it spoils the game. Why would I have ever played GTA if I had cheat codes from the start? The idea behind the phone and computer are fun, but they are poorly designed. I couldn't even scroll all the way down on the in game computer because some of the names of the items were hidden at the bottom. I also couldn't find turn signals in the menu, which seems poorly laid out. At least implmenet a search bar on the computer so that I can type the part number in. This game has growing room, but at the moment is way out it needs: more bikes, improved UI, improved camera movement, improved computer functions and design, actual tools and use of those tools. On the side this game could have: tool boxes to buy, better tools to buy, having to buy a tool kit before starting, working your way up rather than being a lone mechanic from the start (UI advice if designing person alongside is too hard), smaller workshop to begin with (work your way up to current location / bigger locations).
Unfortunately this game is really, really poor. I originally overlooked the severely dated graphics as a sacrifice for the detailed game play but that doesn't exist. The repairs are very, very basic. There is no learning involved, no method, no tools, no techniques. You click on the item to be removed, it disappears, you click on the new item, it appears. This is the extent of the game. It's not a simulator at all I'm sorry to say. Besides that the gameplay is very glitchy and cumbersome. The controls need to be rethought. Sometimes when you take a job you're not able to remove the part you need to, but every single other item can be removed, very annoying glitch. Unfortunately I would not recommend this game at all, even if it were free.
It is worth that you buy this game on sale. - Is has some bugs. After some missions, if you try to replace the footrests, you can´t, then can´t advance. The only way is not repairing the footrests in the missions ahead. - Only one type of motorbike, chopper. - Music is cool, but repetitive. - You are obligated to paint the repaired parts. The first time is just curious. Then is horribly and stupidly repetitive, you feel dumb having to paint the repaired parts again and again. - Average graphics and I feel it has a bad optimization, as doesn´t run smoothly. - The camera navigation is sometimes clunky, but it is ok and allows you to navigate around the motorcycle and see many parts. - You can play your own music in the radio. It is a cool idea. I would recommend this game on sale, if you are completely new into motorcycles, this one could be an acceptable approach. However, there should be some updates, like the bug of the footrests, quitting the repetitive painting mode, adding some new bike would be cool. Also, a button where it shows the repair order! It is annoying to come back to the mobile phone each time I forget which parts I have still to mount.
