Cool but expensive af
amazing!
Mortal Kombat (2011)
Story mode is SURPRISINGLY pretty decent. Plot itself is written like a 90s B category Action movie, but not in a bad way. Characters are fun enough and the story is entertaining enough (even though some things UNFORTUNATELY were a bit lacking in terms of story development). Boss fights suck ass, man. I cannot express enough how f***ing abysmally cheap those are, bosses have absolutely NO unique attacks, IN FACT, it feels like bosses only got like 3-4 moves that are already overpowered and bosses just spamming those without any cooldowns. Artstyle is absolutely gorgeous! Textures, lightning, overall graphics are above and beyond Godlike. Costume design is f***ing incredible! Possibly the best in MK franchise, with the only complaint being: A COUPLE of female fighters costumes just being straight up sauceless jigglybones showoff, but overall like solid 95-99% of character designs are absolutely AMAZING and overall costume attention to details and style are GODLIKE! Also, game's gore and attention to its details on the costumes and models of the Kombatants themselves are... Well... Horrifyingly Impressive, Impressively Horrifying and overall tasteful and full of sauce, HUGE RESPECT to the Artists. Sound design is a absolute eargasm. Punches on both flesh-sacks and clankers are LOUD, SAUCY and IMPACTFUL AS F**K! I also love the fact that developers didn't try to be too serious and grounded with the game's voice acting, because Kombatants in MK9 sound UNIQUE, LIVELY and FUN, unlike in future entries, where they either sound like "realism-slop central" or blend and boringly annoying characters that feel like they were added just to have a slight possibility of scoring "fartknight" collab some time in the future. Soundtrack absolutely kicks ass, also probably the best OST that MK series have ever delivered. I'll also leave here a selection of my favorite tunes from the game: 1 - Kombatant Select; 2 - Shang Tsung's Courtyard; 3 - The Pit; 4 - The Wasteland; 5 - The Armory; 6 - The Rooftop; 7 - The Subway. Dan Forden possibly have cooked a generational steak here, RESPECT! Gameplay-wise I love it, probably a perfect fighting game for my tastes. Especially since there's not too much stuff, not too little stuff, it's not overcomplicated, and NOT TOO MUCH broken, unlike some other fighting games and other Mortal Kombat entries. I love the simplicity of getting into it, yet getting your ass whopped HARD if you don't want to learn character moves and good ways to try and land a perfect punch or set of punches. Co-Op Towers mode is also a VERY nice addition that I wish was present as much in future MK entries as in other fighting games. Really, idk what to say, I fell in love with this game almost instantly and it is a very upsetting fact that you can only get your hands on this game by either buying overpriced keys from 3rd party, or (God forbid) pirating it. It's a really good and fun game, and hopefully some time in the future there will be a possibility for more players to try it out at least once, without going through sixty-nine circles of hell beforehand. Mortal Kombat (2011) is a 25/10 game for me, would be playing it more in the future, as well as replaying story mode at least one more time. ALSO, shoutout to Mileena for being the Baddest B*tch ever, both in life and in death.

You can't buy this game on Steam anymore. But paying an inflated price for a key is very worth it. It's extremely broken and janky, even for an MK game. But still one of my favorites in the series only topped by its successor, which is MKX.

Classic... fun all around
This game is awesome and I can tell the devs had a lot of fun - the characters, the animations, the locations, it gives the same legendary vibe as UMK3 I played on Sega but on its own it's also a great visual fighting masterpiece. The fact that you can't skip cutscenes on controller is ridiculous though, so it's 9.5/10 for me instead of 10/10.
