The Steam version of Monster Truck Destruction was, for years, a very old and outdated version. There were less trucks and tracks, and the acheviements didn't even work. Just weeks ago, the game was updated to the latest version with a ton of new trucks, levels, and features. However, that also means that it is now identical to the mobile version save for keyboard driving and removed ads. Originally, the Steam version had no microtransactions whatsoever, and even had increased prize money from races, allowing you to collect all the trucks just from in-game cash. Now, race winnings are reduced, and there are a ton of trucks that have to be purchased with real money, the majority of which are shameless bootlegs of Monster Jam trucks. They also removed the ability to cut corners and take shortcuts in drag races, making it much harder. There is way more visual clutter in the menus, with most of it being buttons for microtransactions. They even removed keyboard controls from the menus, so you have to click for everything. And, of course, all the core problems the game used to have are still around. The graphics overall aren't great, body damage looks terrible (the body basically splinters apart into doritos), Some freestyles are seemingly impossible to win, and the combo system is as frustrating and unreliable as ever. Although, to be fair, not every change is bad. They fixed the achievements, and the level editor and truck customizations are welcome additions. I also appreciate the removal of the Autism Speaks billboards, as that organization does more harm than good IRL. Also, some (not all) of the new trucks are pretty cool. Overall, I am not a fan. Like many mobile games, this one is best enjoyed on mobile, killing time on a bus ride or in a waiting room, and just isn't compelling enough to merit playing at home on PC. Buy one of the Monster Jam games instead, they are a much better experience, even if they cost more.

[h1] Monster Truck Destruction [/h1] [h3] Positives: [/h3] + Its a monster truck game + Some of the graphics are tolerable + Acceptable sounds and music + Some tracks are a little fun + A lot of monster trucks you can choose from + You can buy upgrades + Different modes: Championship, Drag, Freestyle, Practice + The game is low priced [h3] Negatives: [/h3] - A badly optimized mobile port - Most of the graphics are from early 2000s - The music can get tiresome to listen to after a while - A whole lot of bugs: f.ex. the game freezes, if you press space before the start of the race; the game bugs out - Some of the in-game controls are only accessible through the on-screen icons (use the mouse button) - Controls cant be changed - Wonky physics - The AI is mostly either: A dead drunk monkey trying to drive for the first time or a cheating world champion with a monster truck way better than yours - Because of this, you will lose a lot of races - The multiplayer mode is not working - No classic racing mode - Mostly very small tracks - The damage system is just bad - Can be very frustrating to play because of the above [h3] Conclusion: [/h3] So you like monster truck games and you are desperate for a new one? Well, you are not this desperate, trust me, its not worth it. Then why the h*ck have I played this game for 5 hours you might wonder? Well, Im just the type of guy that have a thing for crappy games, so nothing to worry about. Just spare your frustration and play something else instead. I think the name of the developer sums it up quite well: "ODD Games" indeed! [h1] Total Score: 3.5/10 [/h1] [h3] NB! [/h3] [b] If you still insist on playing this game (may the Lord be with you), here are some tips: [/b] [list] [*] Buy the Bigfoot #16 first (its the best of the cheap ones) [*] Upgrade it as soon as you can [*] Play single event first to learn and unlock new tracks (I reccommend the drag race mode, its easier than freestyle) [*] Because of the cheating AI: learn where all the lines are that you must cross on the tracks (visible or invisible) [*] If you can, drive outside of the track to avoid jumps and obstacles like cars to shorten the lap time [*] Also if you can, cut the track, take shortcuts and only drive through the necessary lines to get the race approved [*] Dont waste any money after you've fully upgraded your Bigfoot #16, save it until you can buy the Bigfoot X Tour (the best value for money) [*] Upgrade it when possible (a fully upgraded Bigfoot X Tour is good enough for all races, so you dont need to buy any other monster trucks) [*] In freestyle mode you can drive over the cars/buses etc a lot of times (use this to "cheat" if needed) [*] In championship mode, remember if you f*ck up and there is time left on the clock or you have not raced to the finish line yet, you can restart the race at any time [*] Have fun I guess (very doubtful...) [/h3] [b]There is also a major bug you can take advantage of if you want: [/b] After winning/qualifying for the first drag race round, you can end every other round before it starts to automatically win the total race (but where is the fun in that?)
