10/10 This game is like doing crack. One of the best fighting games ever made. Never add online. Ever.
better than sf6, mk11, strive, dbfz, kofxv, umvc3, and all other fighters
The movements are simple and the story is short, but it´s a fun game, and if you have another actual player to fight against it can become a good contest fighting game.
Tekken but good.
MONMUSU * FIGHT! is a small-scale but very self-aware 2D action fighting game that fully embraces its niche identity, presenting itself as a playful, exaggerated take on the genre rather than a serious competitive experience. Developed by StudioS and published by DLsite, the game is built around a cast of monster girls drawn from familiar fantasy archetypes and anime tropes, placing personality, visual flair, and accessibility far above mechanical complexity. From the moment you start playing, it’s clear that the goal is immediate fun and spectacle rather than mastery of advanced fighting systems, and this design philosophy shapes every aspect of the experience. At its core, MONMUSU * FIGHT! uses a deliberately simplified combat system that strips away much of the technical overhead found in traditional fighting games. Special attacks and powerful moves are executed through straightforward inputs, often relying on single-button presses rather than long command strings, making the game approachable even for players with little experience in the genre. Combos come together easily through repeated attacks and directional inputs, and the emphasis is less on perfect timing or frame knowledge and more on maintaining momentum and enjoying the chaos of battle. This simplicity makes the game easy to pick up and play, but it also means that the combat loop can feel shallow over extended sessions, especially for players accustomed to deeper, more demanding fighters. The character roster is one of the game’s strongest elements and serves as its primary source of variety. Each monster girl is themed around a classic fantasy creature and comes with a distinct visual identity, personality, and set of attacks that loosely reflect her concept. While the mechanical differences between characters are not drastic, their animations, special moves, and overall presentation give each one a unique flavor that encourages experimentation. The game leans heavily into anime-style exaggeration, with expressive poses, flashy effects, and dramatic hit reactions that keep fights visually lively even when the mechanics themselves are repetitive. Partial voice acting and character expressions add an extra layer of charm, reinforcing the lighthearted and sometimes absurd tone that defines the game. Presentation is clearly tailored to fans of anime and monster girl aesthetics, with colorful 2D visuals and character designs that are intentionally provocative without aiming for realism. The game does include suggestive themes and partial nudity, which are openly acknowledged in its content warnings and are an important part of its appeal for a specific audience. Rather than integrating these elements into a serious narrative or dark tone, the game treats them playfully, almost parodying the genre it belongs to. The story mode exists largely as a framework to move players from fight to fight, offering light dialogue and character interactions rather than a cohesive or emotionally driven plot, but it succeeds in giving context to the action and reinforcing the game’s carefree attitude. In terms of content and longevity, MONMUSU * FIGHT! is best experienced in short bursts rather than long marathons. Without complex systems, ranked modes, or a strong competitive scene, the game doesn’t provide many incentives for long-term mastery. Replay value mainly comes from trying out different characters, experimenting with their moves, and enjoying the spectacle of combat rather than refining skill. For casual players, this can be a positive trait, as it avoids frustration and allows for relaxed play sessions, but for others it may feel like the game runs out of meaningful challenges fairly quickly. Overall, MONMUSU * FIGHT! succeeds most when approached with the right expectations. It is not designed to compete with mainstream fighting games or to offer deep mechanical systems, but instead aims to deliver accessible, visually entertaining battles centered on a quirky cast of characters. Its strengths lie in its charm, ease of use, and unapologetic embrace of its niche, while its weaknesses stem from limited depth and repetitive gameplay. For players who enjoy anime-inspired aesthetics, monster girl themes, and simple action gameplay, it offers a fun and unapologetically light experience that knows exactly what it wants to be and never pretends otherwise.
