Midnight Paradise, Lewdlab's second masterpiece, opens with our protagonist Connor Harding in a showdown with his roommate (relationships of player's choice) Logan, after what appears to be a business gone badly. The narrative, however, jumps back a year and picks up the story from the beginning.
Then we find out that our hero has been expelled from college, forcing him to come back home to Midnight City.
Returning after two years without a word, Connor is cornered by Ray, his landlord, and finds himself having to start over and prove himself trustworthy in the old man's eyes to win back everything. At the same time, he'll also be competing with Logan, so that Ray can choose the most suitable successor to lead his prosperous enterprise.
Fortunately, Joyce, the landlady, Isabel and Ruby, the elder and younger roommates, the teacher Ms. Jane, the maid Celine and the neighbor Sofia will help him catch his breath... or make him gasp.
It's up to us to decide whether Connor will remain morally and ethically respectable or whether he will give in to vice during his rise to success in the mysterious and lascivious city of the night, perhaps even corrupting the girls along the way.
It's a sandbox-style multiple-choice visual novel in which the main story and side quests are accompanied by a robust timetable of the girls' activities. These side quests aren't organic to the plot's development and pursuing them doesn't advance the story, but serves to enrich it. This makes the substantial grinding entirely optional, but skipping it also means missing out on his many "juicy" content.
The choices you make will have a major impact on your morality, while others will influence the girls, leading them down the path of love or corruption, and all of this will determine which of the eight possible endings you'll encounter ([spoiler]which however are not very "succulent", the "main course" here is the journey and not the destination[/spoiler]).
Technically, the title is very well-crafted, the models of the girls are beautiful and the animations, while not always overly elaborate, are fluid and well-done. There are no moans or sounds during the hot scenes, but the soundtrack is very pleasant.
[spoiler]Personal note: a relentless battle with an almost entirely tied expanded podium, with a "hungry" Celine leading as best girl, who despite her small role is a real show-stopper and definitely steals the show, followed by a stunning Isabel, who "solved" me more situations than I would have thought, and a magnificent Ruby, who, in my opinion, could easily have been first, but despite a favorable "anal"ysis and her commendable "ass"ets, unfortunately loses a few opportunities along the way and is penalized by Celine, which is her improved version, and then by an excellent Joyce, who make a great comeback in the later stages. It's a shame for Sofia, who despite having equipment that would be the envy of the others, is unfortunately introduced a bit late and has a smaller presence, and especially for Melissa, who promised sparks, but then just disappears. Then Ms. Jane, who is the "lifeline" in the early stages of the story, then Natsuko and finally Eliana, who has the same problem as Melissa and with whom she is also mutually exclusive.
It's a shame that Melissa, Eliana, Natsuko and Theresa remain marginal, especially Melissa, where one would have thought they would have had a bigger role, instead they either disappear suddenly and prematurely or remain on the sidelines. I'm also sad for Emily and Rachel, with whom nothing really happens.
Honorable mentions include the blonde Bartender, Melanie, who both I would have seen very well in action and more than once, the girl with fabulous tits from the club who "assists" us with Ruby, the blonde on the beach, Emily, Theresa, Rachel, Kaylee, Saura, Amy, Tanya, Tara and Ivy.[/spoiler]

Midnight Paradise, secondo capolavoro di Lewdlab, si apre con il nostro protagonista Connor Harding alla resa dei conti col suo coinquilino (relazioni a scelta del giocatore) Logan, dopo che quella che pare essere una faccenda finita male. La narrazione torna però ad un anno prima e riprende seguendo la vicenda dal principio.
Scopriamo dunque che il nostro eroe è stato espulso dal college, pertanto si è visto costretto a tornare a casa a Midnight City.
Di ritorno dopo 2 anni senza aver dato notizie, Connor viene messo alle strette da Ray, il suo padrone di casa, e si ritrova a dover ricominciare da capo e dimostrarsi affidabile agli occhi del vecchio per riguadagnarsi tutto. Al contempo sarà anche in competizione con Logan, in modo che Ray possa scegliere il successore più adatto per condurre la sua prospera impresa.
Fortunatamente, Joyce, la padrona di casa, Isabel e Ruby, coinquilina maggiore e minore, l'insegnante Ms. Jane, la cameriera Celine e la vicina Sofia lo aiuteranno a tirare un po' il fiato... o a fargli venire il fiatone.
A noi spetterà scegliere se Connor resterà moralmente e eticamente rispettabile oppure se si lascerà andare al vizio durante la sua ascesa verso il successo nella misteriosa e lasciva città della notte, magari corrompendo pure le ragazze nel mentre.
Si tratta di una visual novel a scelta multipla in stile sandbox nella quale la storia principale e quelle secondarie sono affiancate da una robusta griglia oraria delle attività delle ragazze. Queste attività accessorie non sono organiche nello sviluppo della trama e perseguendole non si procederà con la storia, ma servono come arricchimento alla stessa. Ciò rende il corposo grinding del tutto facoltativo, ma tralasciandolo si andranno anche a perderne i tanti "succosi" contenuti.
Le scelte effettuate avranno un peso soprattutto nel determinare il nostro grado di moralità, altre invece influenzeranno le ragazze, portandole sulla via dell'amore o della corruzione, e il tutto andrà a stabilire a quale degli 8 possibili finali andremo incontro ([spoiler]che però non sono troppo "succulenti", il "piatto forte" qui è il viaggio e non la destinazione[/spoiler]).
Tecnicamente il titolo è assai curato, i modelli delle ragazze sono molto belli e le animazioni, anche se non sempre troppo elaborate, sono fluide e ben fatte. Sono assenti gemiti e suoni durante le scene piccanti, ma la colonna sonora è molto piacevole.
[spoiler]Nota personale: una strenua battaglia con un podio allargato quasi tutto a pari merito, con una "famelica" Celine in testa come best girl, che nonostante la presenza troppo ridotta è tutta un programma e ruba decisamente la scena, seguita da una sbalorditiva Isabel, che mi ha "risolto" più situazioni di quante non avrei pensato, e una magnifica Ruby, che stando ai miei gusti poteva essere facilmente prima, ma nonostante un'"anal"isi favorevole e una prova "cul"turale encomiabile, purtroppo perde un po' di occasioni sulla strada e viene penalizzata da Celine, la sua versione migliorata, e quindi da un'ottima Joyce, che recupera alla grandissima nelle fasi avanzate. Peccato per Sofia, che pur se con un equipaggiamento da far invidia alle altre viene purtroppo introdotta un po' tardi e ha una presenza minore, e soprattutto per Melissa, che prometteva scintille, ma poi sparisce. Poi Ms. Jane, che è la valvola di "salvezza" nelle fasi iniziali della storia, e quindi Natsuko e infine Eliana, che ha lo stesso problema di Melissa e con cui è pure mutualmente esclusiva.
Peccato che Melissa, Eliana, Natsuko e Theresa, rimangano marginali, soprattutto Melissa, laddove si era portati a pensare che avrebbero avuto un ruolo maggiore, invece o spariscono di botto e prematuramente o rimangono in disparte. Mi spiace poi anche Emily e Rachel, con cui non succede proprio niente.
Come menzioni d'onore citerei la barista bionda, Melanie, che entrambe avrei visto benone all'opera e non solo una volta, la ragazza dai seni favolosi del club che ci "assiste" con Ruby, la bionda della spiaggia, Emily, Theresa, Rachel, Kaylee, Saura, Amy, Tanya, Tara e Ivy.[/spoiler]
