This game has been sitting on my library for the past 10 years or so but i never got the chance to try it. Since now i am reading LotR books i thought it might be a good idea to also play Shadow of Mordor. As a game it has its positives and negatives but overall i think its a very cool game. The combat is extremely fluid and actually values your time. Meaning you get better with practice. I also really liked the lore behind it and enjoyed learning new things about the universe. I also really liked the challenge. This game comes from a different era where you had to try alot, and not just stay passive and never die. I died quite a few times and i tried different approaches in missions. I really liked this freedom. Also the collectable features are cool but optional. I guess you need to do them in order to become stronger, but i ended up doing everything i could so the second part of the game was pretty easy since i had upgraded alot of my skills and gear. Unfortunately the story is lacking and its not very good. I wasnt very interested to be honest. It started strong but then it felt very shallow and short overall. The last quests felt very unnecessary too and i didnt really care. The weakest part was the final boss battle. Just a QTE. I had way harder time with killing warchiefs. Give it a try, bonus points if you like the universe.
Very good and fun game. The combat is fun, not very difficult later on, and the challenges are rewarding once compleated
It's a really good game, but there's not a ton of replay value I think. They discontinued the Nemesis Forge, so it's no longer possible to transfer orcs from Shadow of Mordor over to Shadow of War. Experience the story once and then move on to Shadow of War. SoW is so much better.
