Miasma Caves is an explorative action-adventure game. You'll explore a procedurally generated cave system hunting for treasure then try and make it back to town to restock and check in with the villagers before trying to venture deeper.

Tl;dr - get the soundtrack, skip the game because it is tedious and unfairly punishing any attempts at casual gameplay. Treat it as a "YouTube game" to avoid the tedium and to skip to the segments actually want to see (read: not much of that - most of it is repetitive digging). If the game had a casual godmode / explorer mode, I might recommend it. Death is extremely punishing and comes easily in this game, forcing anti-fun, paranoid play styles. The soundtrack alone is a good enough reason to play this one. ...Too bad the gameplay design is horrendous. Get this - every time you die, the game deletes your dungeon. This means you can NEVER RECOVER YOUR STUFF. Imagine losing most of your active items in a grindy game - NOT FUN. The game seems to be full of designs that kill you fast. You are on a constant timer because the invisible gas (separate from the visible gas that - you guessed it - kills you fast). You would have to save-scum in this game because the auto-save thing saves every five seconds or so, so if you fall and die (level design has lots of deep pits), you cannot just exit the game and re-do the run because you will spawn five seconds before you died. The idea of the game is to loot various relics. It is quite difficult to find anything unless it is in plain sight. Most of it is not. The supposed Treasure Locator does not work. It spins wildly based on your direction of looking and positioning in the most nonsense way possible. You might think you found it by getting on top of it, though after some digging the pointer just disappears. F this game - nothing's properly designed in it. This game needs a genuine map function badly. It taxes your mind trying to memorize where you are in the endlessly repeating identical corridor and cavern designs. The main problem is that the levels are super sparse and long (besides death traps that can be quite numerous). This is a horrible game to have the "roguelite" mechanics. There is no benefit in dying, so it is purely there to punish the player for no gain. The sooner you realize the "punishing" is the main content to be had, you know you have seen everything the game has to offer and can quit it. Your supposed plot progress is finding some static rooms with special textures and props and the MC making a text box out of it. Oh and this game has no proper graphical configuration options in-game. It is one of those Unity games where you can only set the graphics quality on "Fastest" with a command line parameter. You can try adding to the properties thing something like: -force-d3d9 -screen-quality Fastest The town is quite laggy on default settings and those parameters make a moderate difference.
its good a little confusing tho
This "game" is pretty much garbage. It's barebones, it's ugly as hell (I think PS2-era graphics but... not great). The UI looks like it was yoinked from some low-effort Xbox 360 game, it actually makes me both nostalgic and physically sick. Xbox360 games had this weird "milk" filter that I can't get over - this game has the same. The movement is so freaking snippy/janky, the animations are LOL, and the overworld looks like baby's first map project. Why is this on Steam? This should be on Itch.io or some other "aspiring dev" platform. Also, I found out this had a $ price. This. You serious? It's not even an H-game. Make in an H-game and you can charge $.
For a free game, you can't ask for too much. Overall, it's playable. Even though it has a lot of flaws, they don't really ruin the experience. At the end of the day, like I said—it's a free game, so you can't expect too much.
Right now, there is not much of a polished game but there is a game to play. Honestly this gives me the feel of minecraft way back when it was a web browser java block simulator, but with story and attractive characters. There is a lot of potential in for this game so keep your eye on it. It's a perfect game for kids as it is.
