I'll 4/5 this. Definitely play it. All is straight-forward--after a fashion--meaning, you won't go haring off after any red herrings and it isn't so complicated as OG Sierra. Here are my 'How to Play' tips: you have both a left and right mouse button to click on everything; 'everything' only needs to be where the cursor turns yellow; and sometimes you are stuck bc our player is literally standing in front of the solution (very, meta-hah, imo). So, cool!--have fun. 🔆L

Hmmm, how to review this game? Let's break it down into manageable chunks. a) Presentation Not exactly the prettiest game. The background art can be muddy and difficult to parse at times, and our protagonist was a diffuse blob most of the time. I laughed out loud every now and then at his noodly arms stretching themselves out to reach something. Music was nice, and the sound in general was crisp and clear. The voice actress for Judy deserves particular praise for her performance! 2) Puzzles Overall, quite OK. Most of the puzzles made sense, "most" being the operative word here. There were some instances of moon-logic, but the game is good at not having you run back and forth between multiple locations, and I was never stuck for long. There were one or two instances of annoying pixel-hunting because of the muddy graphics, the one in
_____Iran_____
standing out in particular. iv) Story OK, the story was a little bumpy. In broad strokes, I liked it, but there were some situations that were a little silly, if not absurd. This is one of those games where you sometimes have to chuckle wryly, and remind yourself it's just a game. Contrary to others, though, I was a fan of the ending!
Very "Call of Cthulhu"! I might even steal some plot points for my own sessions!
Should you play? Sure! It's free, I encountered no bugs, and the flaws are relatively minor.
pretty barebones. It's a free game so can't really complain that much.
👍
Alright for free.
*ignore my short play time - I played the itch.io version Metaphobia is a short detective / cosmic horror point and click with a mature sombre art style. It details a man who investigates his father’s mysterious death and uncovers horrifying truths while solving puzzles around this city. It feels very much like a classic Wadjet Eye published game. It has very mature refined pixel art - and the animations are incredible. Simple one-time movements like a woman being terrified of a mouse is animated so well (likely rotoscoped), so visually the game is a really polished experience. The puzzles are generally good as well, besides a couple that felt a bit illogical (let’s build a bonfire and craft a light instead of just charging a phone’s battery?). But nothing had me stuck for too long and it all had a good flow. For the whopping price of $0 this is totally worth checking out for fans of the more serious toned side of the genre. The ending is a little abrupt and lousy but otherwise it’s a fun little detective game with some really impressive art and animations and mostly fun puzzle solving.
Out of all the games out there, this is definitely one I have played! Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the games of all time. 7/10
Pretty good
