As a lifelong fan who holds the original MGS 1 through 4 close to my heart, it is rare for me to admit this—but Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is, without a doubt, the most polished, sophisticated, and complex experience I have ever encountered in gaming. While the classic titles defined the narrative soul of the series, MGS V elevates the gameplay to an absolute pinnacle. The sheer freedom of the sandbox, the reactive AI, and the staggering depth of its mechanics make every mission feel like a unique puzzle waiting to be solved. Kojima Productions achieved a level of mechanical fluidity that few games have managed to replicate even years later. It is a masterpiece of game design that sets a standard for the entire medium.

Update that broke mods and introduced new bugs. All for a stronger DRM after 9 years. Why?

Needs an online connection to launch and play

If you're planning on playing this game offline-only, first off, refuse the online agreements on startup. Second off, do not, under any circumstance, connect online after making decent progress. Connecting online will siphon exactly 90% of all of your resources (cash, materials for weapons development and base expansion, plants, vehicles, etc) into konami's servers, forcing you to play online if you want to use those resources. This siphoning will happen every time you reconnect after collecting resources while offline. Also, a recent patch updated the DRM, which introduced performance issues and broke a bunch of mods.
